When to spray grapes?
Spray the grapes preventivelyfrom the beginning of the growing season or when the first symptoms of diseases or pests appear.The greatest risk of fungal diseases appears in humid and warm weather, during the period of intensive leaf and cluster growth, i.e. in June and July. Then we shouldobserve the grapes and spray them in case of infection.
In the case ofusing organic grape sprayingtreatments can be performed throughout the season, they are not harmful to plants, and even strengthen the bushes and protect them against pathogens.
Shrubs of sensitive grapevines should be sprayed as a precaution immediately before and after flowering .
How to spray the grapes?
For spraying grapes you can use :
- chemical plant protection products,
- ready-made preparations based on natural ingredients,
- decoctions of weeds and herbs that we prepare ourselves.
In amateur viticulture in the garden, we mainly recommend spraying with natural and ecological preparations that are safe for the environment and ourselves. Ecological spraying of grapescan be done with preparations of horsetail, nettle, onion or garlic. We can make decoctions or liquid manure from them. They show a strengthening effect. A decoction of field horsetail helps to fight powdery mildew, and extracts from onion or garlic will get rid of aphids.
If we do not have the ability to prepare such preparations, then in the fight against grapevine mildew, we can reach forready-made remedies based on natural ingredients :
- Lecitec- contains lecetin, which strengthens the cell membrane of the grapevine, thus reducing the penetration of pathogens. We use the preparation preventively during the growing season of the grapevine every 10 days, and also as an intervention. We dose Lecitec for vine spraying in the proportion of 25 ml of the preparation per 8 liters of water,

- Evasiol- preparation based on horsetail.Evasiol nourishes, strengthens, heals and immunizes grapes, while being completely safe. It is enough to dissolve 50 ml of the agent in 5 liters of water and use it both preventively from the beginning of the growing season and treat it every 10 days.

In turn, we can get rid of aphids and spider mites by spraying grapevines with a natural preparation Emulpar 940 EC , containing blackberry oil. Spraying is carried out preventively in the early spring, in order to destroy the wintering stages of the pests, and during the growing season, after noticing the feeding of pests. Emulpar 940 EC is dosed in the amount of 90-120 ml of the preparation per 10 liters of water.
If we decide to use chemicalplant protection products for grapevine sprayingremember to select the preparation correctly, use it in the right concentration, keeping the grace period (the interval between spraying and the date of harvesting grapes).
