Barbula klandońska(Caryopteris clandonensis), also sometimes referred to as Klandoński kariopterys, is an ornamental, deciduous shrub that sheds leaves for the winter. It is a cross between a gray barbula and a Mongolian barbula. This shrub grows up to 100 cm in height.
A great advantage of the barbula are its dense, blue flowers , appearing in late summer at the turn of August and September. The flowers of Klandon barbula appear on this year's shoots, and the aromatic, dark green, slightly shiny leaves look good in the company of plants that have a silver color, e.g. a pinnate carnation or a blue fescue.

Barbula Klandońska feels best in a sunny positionamong perennials or in rock gardens. We plant Klandon barbula in autumn or spring in well-drained soil, containing calcium.
Barbula tolerates drought well, but is not fully hardy (frost resistance zone 7A).When cultivating Klandon barbula, it is best to choose a position sheltered from the windIn winter, the shrub should be protected against low temperatures by putting on an agrotextile hood and making a mound of garden soil or compost at the base of the bush.

Barbula Klandinska requires annual pruning of last year's shoots . This treatment will stimulate the plant to sprout new shoots on which flowers will develop. We cut the barbula at the beginning of the growing seasonand, depending on the needs, during the bush's growth, removing sick or damaged shoots. In spring, at the turn of March and April, after removing the winter cover of the barbula bush, when the risk of frost is low, trim the bush low to a height of 10-15 cm above the ground

Remember to sprinkle the seedlings with water regularly, maintaining high humidity and temperature 15-18 ° CSeedlings can be additionally covered with perforated foil and gradually exposed as they grow. After the plant has taken root, we transplant it into a pot with a diameter of 7 cm and leave it in an inspection period for the winter (ensuring a temperature of 10-12 ° C).
