Paper wicker star - how to make it step by step

Paper starwicker is a very effective and fashionable decoration recently. Paper is an ecological, easily accessible material that each of us has in our home in various forms. It is therefore not surprising that it is also used to create decorations for Christmas. To make ourpaper wicker stara reality, we will need: sheets of white paper, leaflets from shops or colored newspapers, a long toothpick, glue and scissors.

The star is one of the simplest decorations that can be made of paper wicker , thanks to which it will appeal to even the youngest artists! Prepare the necessary materials and together with us, step by step, make a star out of paper wicker. Let's go!

Step 1 - preparing paper tubes

Creatingstars from paper wickerstart by preparing paper tubes that will be needed to prepare the star (photo above). Divide the leaflet from the store or a white sheet of paper into 4 equal parts and cut it, then roll the resulting strips onto the toothpick.
Apply the paper strip to the toothpick and quickly roll it onto the toothpick. Paper curling around the toothpick will keep the tube thin and strong. After winding the tube, glue its end with glue, and after a while, remove the toothpick from the tube.
To make a star from paper wickerwe will need about 12 long tubes.The tubes can be connected with each other, thanks to which it is easier and faster to create our Christmas decoration.

Step 2 - weaving a star from a paper wicker

The next stepof making a star out of paper wickerwill be weaving it (photo 2). We divide the paper tube into five equal parts, then fold it into an asterisk, and connect the ends of the tube together.The places where the sections of the paper tube touch each other should be additionally glued. This will make the wicker star more durable. Then, stick another paper tube from the bottom to one of the star's arms and place it on the adjacent star arm, creating the so-called loop.

Step 3 - ending the paper wicker star

We translate the paper tubes to the very end, when we will not be able to continue the interlacing (photo 3). The last stepof creating a star from a paper wickerconsists in cutting and gluing the remaining tube from the bottom. After finishing weaving, the star can be additionally sprayed or decorated with glitter.
