Terrace platforms in practice

The platforms can be used in the garden in many ways. Elevated platforms are used to divide the area, compensate for slopes, as well as to separate some part of the plot.Very often the landing is part of the path or closes it.

In the case of stairs, landings are built in as intermediate resting surfaces when there is a change of direction or there is a very large height difference. They can also be used to raise the level of the terrace or as a platform for sitting on the edge of the pond.

At the beginning of designing, it is necessary to consider the proper placement of the platform. When the garden is situated on a slope, the solution often comes to mind.In other cases, it is worth considering our favorite places in the garden.

A great idea is to combine the landing with the existing path. The layout of the lanes can be omitted when you plan to place a small platform to sit on the lawn.

Bench surrounded by greenery

A shaded corner in a remote part of the garden is perfect for a quiet place to sit.At a height of two steps above the lawn, there is a clinker brick landing on which a wooden bench is placed.

On both sides of it there are large terracotta pots with funki and hydrangeas. The wall at the back of the bench is a support for the climbing spandex shoots upward. The evergreen shrub is easy to care for and does well without trellises for creepers.

The size of the platform depends on the expected function. If it is to be used as a sitting area, its surface will be different, depending on whether you intend to place one chair here or a complete set of garden furniture. The landing separating the stairs should be at least equal to the width of the stairs.

Various materials are used to make the platforms, depending on the intensity of the surface use.Places that are regularly frequented are covered with materials resistant to treading and very durable, such as clinker, concrete slabs and moldings, paving and slabs of natural stone. These materials can also be used to easily make round forms.

To avoid frost damage, the surface should be laid on a gravel layer at least 30 cm thick. The rainwater runoff will provide a slight slope from the house towards the garden.

The cheapest are gravel, grit or bark surfaces. However, they should be renewed from time to time. A wooden platform is perfect for the seating area.Previously used materials should always be used for new ventures.

Dream corner

Long, flat steps lined with flat lumps of natural stone lead to the elegant gazebo made of metal bars.On a stone platform, two meters in diameter, a small table and a comfortable armchair can easily fit. The gazebo is entwined with the shoots of the climbing rose 'Kir Royal', covered with pink-red flowers from June to August.

Throughout the season, a rose covers the inside of the gazebo with a pleasant shade, especially needed in the afternoon.Around the pavilion, popular perennials partnering roses, such as catnip and geranium, as well as a few small bedding roses and mullein.
