In June, we most often observe fruit infection symptoms on strawberries, and then on raspberries and blackberries. The symptoms of gray mold on strawberries are most common on buds, flowers and fruits, and rarely on leaves. Infected buds, then flowers turn brown and die.We observe the most characteristic symptoms of the diseaseon fruits when they start to stain (these are clearly visible brown spots). Then, on the already ripening strawberries, you can see damage similar to crushing. The fruit rots and its damaged tissue shows a profuse, fluffy, gray coating. After shaking it, a cloud of brown dust - fungus spores - falls off its surface.Chemical treatments against this disease are started during flowering with Teldor 500 S.C., Switch 62.5 WG, Rovral Flo 255 SC and Pomarsol Forte 80 WG. Disease can also be reduced by destroying harvest debris, avoiding over-densification and careful weeding of plantations. You can also cover the inter-rows with agrotextile from flowering to harvest. In the case of raspberries, the fungus affects shoots, flowers, fruits, and in high humidity conditions also leaves, on the surface of which large brown spots appear. Disease symptoms observed on the shoots are somewhat similar to raspberry shoot dieback, however, unlike raspberry shoot dieback, there is no characteristic purple color on the shoots. Shoot dieback may occur in the case of high intensity of the disease. Fruits are also infected, which in conditions of high air humidity are often covered with a gray dusting of mycelium. Protection against gray mold is to remove all affected shoots in spring. This treatment practically minimizes the need to perform chemical treatments. We perform treatments during flowering with Teldor 500 SC or Rovral Flo 255 SC.
