I would like to write a few words about cherries. I have an old tree in my orchard, the variety of which I do not know. It gives excellent yields every year and requires virtually no care. Of course, it happened to me a few times that spring frosts destroyed the flowers, but we have no influence on the weather.
Harvesting cherriesI prepare juices, preserves and jams from the crops harvested every year. Thanks to the characteristic sour taste of the fruit, preserves are never too sweet.
He alth cherry stone pillows
I drill and freeze a lot of cherries. I do not throw away the seeds obtained in this way, but I make a special pillow-hot water bottle from them.My grandmother taught me this. Boiled, clean and dried seeds are poured into a small cotton pillowcase and sewn together. Then I warm up such a pillow in an oven or on a radiator and make compresses from it. They help with rheumatic pains that haunt me. This stone hot water bottle can also be applied to the throat or chest during a cold.
Cutting cherry treesWhen it comes to care, I don't cut my cherries too often. It's a big tree, so I don't want to touch the old branches. When the fruiting time is over (early August), the husband only removes the withered or deformed branches. And in early spring, when the cherry buds, we spray it against pests.
