Practical Gardener: raspberries with yellow fruits

Table of contents

'Poranna Rosa' is a typical raspberry, but it produces unusual fruit. The color of ripe fruits is unusual because they are not red, but golden yellow.

It is worth mentioning that this is our domestic variety, which was bred at the Department of the Institute of Pomology in Brzezna. The fruit is dessert, very tasty and sweet. They taste best when picked straight from the bush.

The fruits of this variety of raspberries look particularly impressive in dishes,
e.g. in desserts, served with traditional raspberries. 'Morning Rosa' is suitable for growing in any garden due to its low sensitivity to diseases. The bushes produce several strong and thorny shoots every year.

'Poranna Rosa' belongs to the varieties that repeat fruiting. This means that the fruit appears both on the shoots that grew in the previous year, as well as on this year's shoots. For this reason, shrub pruning can be carried out in two ways.A simpler method is to cut all the shoots low to the ground in early spring.

Fruiting will be a bit later then, because you will have to wait until the end of summer for fruit to develop on the sprouts. The second method of cutting is to leave a few shoots that grew in the previous year. However, they must be shortened. We remove the upper, usually withered part of the shoot, because this part is already bearing fruit. The first fruits will appear on the left lower part in July.

Growing raspberries and raspberries

In the meantime, completely new shoots will grow, which will bear fruit in September. We will have two fruiting in this way.Fruits will appear first on the lower part of last year's shoots, and then on this year's shoots.
