Alstromeria is propagated by dividing the rhizome. In August, we divide the plants so that each part has a rhizome section of several centimeters with well-developed shoots and roots.Seedlings are planted deep (15 cm) in tall containers with a large capacity (about 10 liters) and with good drainage of water.
Roots and rhizomes intensively developing during vegetation should not be found on the surface. The alstromeria should be in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight. In summer, it can be put on the balcony. In winter, it requires a temperature of 10-15˚C, which promotes the formation of flower buds. The substrate should be humus, well-drained, slightly acidic (pH 5.5-6) and moderately moist.
May consist of de-acidified high peat mixed with coarse-grained gravel and ground composted bark in the ratio 1: 1: 1.Water the plant sparingly in winter - excess moisture promotes the development of fungal diseases at the base of shoots and rhizomes.During the growing season, we feed alstromeria every 2 weeks with fertilizers for flowering potted plants from June to August. The plant responds well to fertilization with diluted cow.
