Home remedies for diseases

Table of contents

I'm interested in natural medicine. It turns out that some ailments can be successfully combated with home-made herbal remedies. I want to share with the readers of "Recipe for the Garden" some proven recipes.

Think of autumn colds in summer

Although the holiday is in full swing and no one is thinking about winter yet, it is worth getting ready for it. During this time, our body is particularly susceptible to infections and colds. I advise you to introduce a lot of fruit and vegetables into your diet now to strengthen the body. First of all, however, we should start drying the herbs, from which we will be able to prepare - if necessary - teas, drinks, syrups, tinctures or inhalations.

Herbal teas
I usually drink teas myself. Brewing them takes a moment and it is difficult to overdose them. For colds and flu, I recommend a herbal mixture of dried thyme, linden, chamomile and willow bark.Thyme has antiseptic properties, chamomile relieves inflammatory symptoms, willow bark lowers the temperature, and linden has a diaphoretic effect. 2 tablespoons of the mixture pour boiling water, cover for 10 minutes and strain before serving.

Natural syrups
If necessary, I also prepare syrups, most often from horseradish and beetroot. They have an expectorant effect and contain a lot of vitamin C.Hoarseness is soothed by celery extract. We boil half a liter of water and 30 g of leaves. We add half a liter of milk. We drink one glass on an empty stomach.

Herbal inhalations

Herbal inhalations and lavender tincture will help with rhinitis and sick sinuses. I put 10 tablespoons of flowers in a jar and pour half a liter of vodka. I set aside for 10 days.I put the drink on a cotton swab and inhale. When poured into a sprinkler, this tincture also works as an air freshener.

Teas- are easy to prepare. If we add a pinch of powdered ginger to them, we increase the effect.

  • linden- has antipyretic properties. Pour a glass of boiling water over a tablespoon of dried linden flower. Leave covered for 10 minutes. Strain, add a teaspoon of honey and drink.
  • elderberry- fights colds. Pour 2 tablespoons of dried into a glass of boiling water. Cover, set aside for 10 minutes. Season with raspberry juice. Cheers!

Syrups- thanks to their thick consistency, they are much more effective than teas and infusions.

  • horseradish- add half a cup of boiled, cooled water to about 150 g of freshly grated root and leave it covered for about an hour. After this time, pour through gauze into a jar. Add 150 g of honey and the juice of half a lemon. Adults should drink a spoonful of cough 3 times a day, while children should drink the same frequency, but a spoonful.

Inhalations- moisturize the mucosa and help clear the respiratory tract.

  • marjoram- add 3 tablespoons of marjoram to a pot with hot water. Lean over the vessel and inhale the vapors for a few minutes.
  • sage- prepare it like marjoram. Such a procedure will help fight a runny nose and cough.
  • rosemary- both the dried and the fresh herb opens the sinuses and improves concentration.
