In the case of such a brown conifers after winter, it is necessary to cut out the withered shoots, and fertilization will only support the regeneration of the remaining parts of the plants.
The result of the lack of light is browning of the needles inside the crown of the conifer , on the shoots located next to the main shoot (guide). Then, first of all, it is necessary to trim the plant in order to thin the shoots so that more sunlight reaches the inside of the crown. Without it, anti-browning fertilizer alone won't help.
Which fertilizer for conifers against browning of needles to choose?
Fertilizers for conifers against browning of needles can be usedin both soil and foliar form. We use them as an intervention, after noticing the first symptoms of brown needles, or as a preventive measure, before unfavorable symptoms appear.
In stores, you can usually find granular fertilizers, which, however, can be easily dissolved and watered or sprayed on plants. In their compositionthey mainly contain a large dose of magnesium sulfate .

1. Compound fertilizers against browning of needles

3. Magnesium Sulfate
If we have a lot of conifers in the garden and we are looking for a cheaper fertilizer, it is worth reaching formagnesium sulphateThis fertilizer works in the same way as specialized fertilizers for conifers, and is much cheaper. The drawback is the availability only in larger packages, i.e. 2 kg and 5 kg bags.
How to use fertilizer for conifers against browning of needles?
We use fertilizers for conifers against browning of needles from March , sprinkling evenly under the crown of coniferous trees or shrubs, in a dose depending on the age and size of the plant. Usually it is 25-50 g / m² of soil or 25 g / 10 liters of substrate in a pot.
The fertilizer should be mixed with the top layer of earth if possibleand watered abundantlyIn practice, we sprinkle it on the ground under the conifers and mix it with the ground using a rake or a hoe. Not too deep, however, so as not to damage the plant roots. Then we water it directly onto the soil, so that the entire fertilized soil surface is well moistened. This will speed up the dissolution of the fertilizer and facilitate its penetration deeper into the soil
If we want to performfoliar spraying with fertilizer for conifers against browning of needles , we have to prepare a 5% solution, i.e. dissolve 500 g of the fertilizer in 10 l of water. In the case of severe nutrient deficiencies, it is recommended to repeat the treatment 2-3 times at intervals of 14 days. Spraying should be done in the morning when the temperature is not high. We definitely avoid spraying in the afternoon hours, in full sun, because then the fertilizer may burn the shoots of our conifers!
