Pond from scratch

Table of contents

Installing the finished pond was not very laborious, because the tank is small and shallow.

Place selection

First, we chose a place, then we set the form, outlining its shape. Then a trench was created. It is very important to compact and level its bottom thoroughly. In addition, to prevent possible cracks in the tank, it is worth pouring a layer of sifted sand into the interior of the trench. Only after such preparation can you place the mold in the ground.

Leveling the ground

Before pouring the water in, we checked that the tank is properly leveled. Then we filled the pond with water to 1/3 of its depth. We poured sand into the free spaces around the mold. The one poured with water evenly filled the remaining gaps.We added another layer of sand where the ground had collapsed a bit. To make sure that the ground settled well, we waited one day to continue filling the tank.

Winter maintenance

Due to the fact that our plastic mesh is shallow and the water may freeze, it must be poured out before winter. We transfer fish and plants to the aquarium at home. At the beginning of April, when it gets warm, we fill the tank with water again and place pots with plants on its profiled shelves.

Fountain

An additional decoration of our pond is a fountain. We chose a device with a submersible pump with adjustable water jet height. So that the whole system does not suck in the silt, the pump should not be placed at the bottom of the tank, but on a stone placed in the middle of the pond.
