Christmas is coming soon. Therefore, it is worth thinking about the Christmas tree now, after all, it is the central element of any festive decor. Even though the market currently offers many options for choosing a Christmas tree, the Christmas tree that is still alive for Christmas is unmatched. Learn more about how to choose a live Christmas tree, how to transport it and what else you should know when buying a live Christmas tree.
Live Christmas tree - cut and potted trees
A live Christmas treeshould be beautifully colored, smell aromatic and have a fairly regular shape. Remember to also pay attention to the length of the tip and the branching density. The Christmas tree should not be too dense or too little branched. The tip should not be too long and too thin.
If you have already chosen your tree, you should take care of its safe transport. Ideally, the Christmas tree should be wrapped in a special bag or fabric, which will minimize any possible damage. We should also remember to bring the Christmas tree home with the stump forward, so that we do not catch anything with twigs. Once we have a Christmas tree at home, choose a suitable place for it.
Note! When buying a live Christmas tree, whether cut or in a container, always make sure that it comes from a special plantation or nursery. Cut Christmas trees should have an appropriate plaque with information about the plantation they come from.
A live Christmas treeshould be placed in a place sheltered from direct sunlight, relatively cool (preferably that the temperature does not exceed 20 ° C) and, above all, away from any heat source ( radiator or fireplace).
If you boughta cut Christmas treeyou should put it in a special stand with water, such stands can now be bought in supermarkets or places where Christmas trees are sold. However, if we havea live Christmas tree in a containerthen it can be put without a stand but with a stand so that the water has a place to drain. It's also a good idea to decorate the container a bit, for example by wrapping it in red or green material that matches Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree must be stable so that it does not fall over.
Once the tree is in place, it is worth finding its best side. The tree should stand so-called front to the audience. We just turn the tree until it fits perfectly in every side of our interior. If the Christmas tree is too dense, unnecessary twigs should be trimmed at the very trunk. If the top is too long, it should also be trimmed.Only a Christmas tree prepared in this way can be started by putting on baubles, lights and other Christmas decorations.
Currently, by selectinga live Christmas treewe can choose between different types of conifers. The most popular species for the Christmas tree is Norway spruce, the price of which is not high. It has short, prickly and green needles, which, however, fall off quite quickly. Instead, it gives off a wonderful aromatic scent that is immediately associated with Christmas. There are also slightly more expensive ones available for sale:blue spruce(popularly known as silver spruce) and narrow Serbian spruce.
However, for those who do not want to have a spruce Christmas tree, I recommend choosing fir, especially Caucasian fir. It is a more expensive tree, but really beautiful. It has dark green, long and non-stinging needles. It is slightly less aromatic than spruce, but holds the needles longer.
Live Christmas trees sold in containers are becoming more and more popular on the market. People buy them thinking that they will be able to put them in their garden or on the terrace in the spring. Unfortunately, it is very rare that a Christmas tree in a container lasts until spring. Why is this happening?
A live Christmas tree in a container - that&39;s how the sellers are deceiving. A tree with a damaged root ball and placed in a pot has no chance of surviving.

When buying a tree in a container, you need to find out if the tree was grown in a container from the beginning. This is especially important if we want to plant the Christmas tree in the garden after Christmas. Often, sellers offer Christmas trees in containers dug out of the forest and put into a container. In this case, the tree's root system is severely trimmed and the tree has no chance of surviving longer.
When deciding on alive Christmas tree in a container , you also have to follow a few rules for dealing with such a tree. First of all, you should know that if you want a Christmas tree to survive the holidays, you should acclimatize it, i.e. gradually get used to a higher temperature. For this purpose, after purchase, it should be kept for several days in a room with a temperature of 4-5 ° C. Then move it for the next few days to a slightly warmer room with approx. 10 ° C. And finally, put it in its destination, i.e. at home. Remembering that the temperature should not exceed 20 ° C. Take care of a damp surface.
A live Christmas treein a container cannot stay at home longer than 10 days. After this time, it should not be exposed to the court immediately. This time it is necessary to gradually reduce its temperature so that it gets used to the conditions outside.
We act a bit differently if we buy a home cypress as a miniature live Christmas tree.Cypresses should be wintered in bright rooms, at the lowest possible temperature (5-10 ° C). If the temperature is higher, closer to the normal room temperature, it is worth remembering to sprinkle cypress sprigs in addition to watering. This will protect the plant from the influence of too dry and warm air during the heating season. Plants can be put outside in the spring, when the risk of frost has passed, and if properly cared for, they can grow at home for several years.
