Blooming profuselyGoldcapworks great as a solitaire in the garden. The plant has no special requirements, sogrowing Goldcapis not a problem. The tree adapts to various conditions. However, it is not completely resistant to frost. Laburnum likes a sunny to slightly shaded position. It grows best in dry to fresh, sandy loam soil, slightly acidic to alkaline.

Note!Avoid planting gold leaf near kindergartens, schools or gardens with young children.Laburnum grass contains toxic substances such as cytosine and other quinolizidine alkaloids that can cause poisoning and even death! The whole plant is poisonous, especially the mature seeds. Poisoning is most often caused by flowers, seeds and roots. Symptoms of poisoning appear after 15-60 minutes in the form of burning sensation in the mouth, throat, convulsions, nausea, vomiting. The lethal dose for children is 15-20 seeds.

Laburnum - cut

In the case ofcommon giltbox, cuttingis not advisable. It shows a natural, spontaneous balance when creating branches, creating a loose habit. Therefore, the possiblecutting of the golden eelshould be limited to the removal of weak, diseased or crossing shoots.
Laburnumworks great as a plant for creating tunnels. Flower tunnels made of blooming gold eaves will create an interesting place in your garden.Thin shoots of the golden eel can also be attached to flat supports or pergolas, thanks to which during flowering we will get an interesting effect with slightly hanging clusters of flowers.

Laburnum - flowers

We start creatingtunnels from gold eavesby placing a metal or wooden structure. At the beginning, we lead the main shoots of the golden drape (conductors) vertically, spreading the side shoots on horizontally stretched wires. At the beginning of the growing season, we cut the goldfish into three buds. Prune the shoots that grow in and out of the tunnel. We also cut the side shoots when they fill the space intended for them, and we tie the guides and lead them above the tunnel. The horizontal arrangement of the shoots in the upper part of the tunnel stimulates them to flower particularly abundantly.

Laburnum - diseases

Laburnumis rarely attacked by diseases. Occasionally, however, stains may appear on the leaves of the goldfish, and the decorative flowers may begin to die off. Why is this happening? Find out how to recognizegoldfish disease .
Gold leaf ringspotis a fungal disease that causes circular spots on the leaves. At first, they take on a grayish color to turn brown over time. Sometimes, with a high intensity of the disease, the spots coalesce, which causes the entire leaves to die. To prevent the occurrence of thisgoldfish disease , remember to rake fallen leaves and burn them in the fall. If during the growing season we notice changes appearing on the leaves, a plant protection product should be applied, e.g. Topsin M 500 SC.
If the new growths of the tree start to die and turn brown in spring during wet weather, and in summer, during flowering, the flowers turn brown and, like the tops, die, we are dealing with anothercommon goldfish diseasewhich is gray mold. Gray dusting may also appear on the surface of the flowers. In the fight against gray mold, it is important to cut out infected parts of plants and to use spraying with plant protection products, such as e.g.Signum 33 WG. Spraying should be repeated after about 10 days.
In addition togoldfish diseases , these plants can also be damaged by pests. The most commonpests of goldfishinclude the hoppy spider mite, which causesmosaic discoloration of goldfish leaves(we control it by spraying the plant with a spider mite, e.g. Karate Zeon 050 CS) and the golden aphid, which forms large colonies of larvae and wingless insects on the stems and leaf stalks (we fight as soon as we notice the presence of the pest, using an aphicicide, e.g. Pirimor 500 WG).
