Dąbrówka rozłogowa - cultivation

Dąbrówka rozłogowais a semi-evergreen turf perennial. It is one of the most popular ground cover plants. At the ends of the above-ground stolons, the oakwort forms leaf rosettes, which grow into wide clumps over time. Dąbrówka grows up to approx. 15 cm in height and almost 0.5 m in width.
Dąbrówka is best planted in spring or autumn. The cultivation of the root beetle will be successful in shaded places , on fresh and moist soil. It can be planted in forest themed gardens as an undergrowth of shrubs and taller perennials. Dąbrówka goes well with plants such as: onion, oatmeal, funkia, Arends tawułka.

The decoration of the bugle leaf is primarily colorful leaves- differently colored, they are a perfect background for the blue flowers that appear in May. During the summer, the creeping bugle may repeat flowering. Sometimes, in severe winters, it may freeze, but it has great regenerative abilities. Dąbrówka can be planted in groupsin the amount of about 16 pieces per 1m² of the garden area.
In hot and dry weather, plants may be threatened by aphids and powdery mildew.

Dąbrówka rozłogowa - reproduction

Propagation of the oak beetle is very easy , because the plant quickly takes root with the help of above-ground runners. It is therefore quite an expansive plant.
The best way to propagate Dąbrówka rozłogową by dividing clumps or by means of rooted rosettes of leaves. We carry out the propagation of the bugle by dividing clumps in autumn , when we divide the expanded clumps into smaller ones and plant them in a new place. We plant the plant to the same depth as the mother plant was growing, then compact the soil and water it thoroughly.
To propagate the rootstock with rooted rosettes of leaves , simply cut off the seedling from the mother plant and place it in the desired location in the garden. Already in the spring of the next year, the bugle will root nicely and decorate the garden with blue flowers.
