Thuja mycorrhizacan significantly improve plant growth and he alth, which translates into better appearance and color of thuja twigs. The use of mycorrhiza suggestsmay also bring additional positive effects that few people are aware of. The secret, however, is in choosing the rightmycorrhizal vaccine for tuiand its proper application. Seewhat mycorrhiza under itworks best and how to apply it to get the best results!

Thuja, or Western Thuja(Thuja occidentalis), like most other plants found in our gardens, can benefit a lot from the use of mycorrhiza. And the obtained improvement in growth is best seen on thuja growing in hedges.
Thuja treated with mycorrhizationfacilitate the uptake of water and nutrients from the substrate. This is because the hyphae of the mycorrhiza enter thuja penetrate the cell walls of the thuja roots, in direct contact with the cell membrane. In this way, the absorbent surface of the thuja roots increases with the surface of the mycelium that grows them, and the absorption of nutrients by the roots is facilitated.
7 benefits of mycorrhiza for tui :
As you can see, thenmycorrhiza for thuja brings a number of benefits , and at the same time allows us to use fertilizers more economically and reduce the frequency of watering plants. A small expense on mycorrhiza, incurred once, will allow you to make significant savings in the following years of thuja cultivation, especially in the care of thuja hedges.
Good to know!
Mycorrhiza is applied only once in a plant's lifetime. We observe the effects of its application for many years to come, reducing the consumption of fertilizers and water for watering. Once applied, mycorrhiza brings savings for years.
As mentioned before, in the case of thuja, the mycelium hyphae pass through the root cell walls, in direct contact with the cell membrane. We call this type of mycorrhiza endomycorrhiza.
This is very important news, becauseonly endomycorrhizal vaccine will work for thujaThis is different than in the case of pine and spruce, for which an ectomycorrhizal vaccine is required (in ectomycorrhiza, mycelium hyphae entwine plant roots, forming so-called swarf and take over the functions of root hairs).
Remember!
Mycorrhiza for conifers such as pine, spruce, fir, larch, Douglas fir is not suitable for thuja. The mentioned needles require ectomycorrhiza (the recommended preparation is ECTOVIT®). On the other hand, an endomycorrhizal vaccine is suitable for thuja.
An example of a mycorrhizal preparation suitable for thuja is SYMBIVIT® It is an endomycorrhizal vaccine, useful in the cultivation of some other ornamental conifers, such as yew, juniper, cypress, and other plants - rose, pelargonium, fruit trees and shrubs, and vegetables, such as e.g. tomatoes. It is therefore the most universal mycorrhiza for garden plants.

SYMBIVIT® endomycorrhizal vaccine is available in the form of a powderApart from mycorrhizal mycelium, the powder also contains a hydrogel and nutrients that facilitate mycorrhiza development after application of the preparation to plant roots. This distinguishes SYMBIVIT® mycorrhiza from other manufacturers' mycorrhizas and makes it exceptionally effective.
SYMBIVIT® Thuja Mycorrhiza can be used in 3 ways :
In my opinion, the most effective way is to prepare a mycorrhiza gel, and then soak the thuja roots in it, ordirect application of the gel under the already growing thujas .
1. Pour the contents of the SYMBIVIT® package into water
2. We mix and wait a moment until a gel is formed
3. Dosing of mycorrhiza will be facilitated by a special applicator

To apply the gel under thethujas already growing in the garden, first use a pencil or a stick to make holes in the ground to a depth of about 20 cm.Make holes under the tree around its crown (not directly next to the trunk). We try to do it so that the mycorrhiza applied to these holes has a chance to come into direct contact with the thuja roots.
For small thujas up to approx. 0.5 m high, it is enough to make 1 hole. We make 2 holes in the ground with a height of 0.5 to 1 meter. We advise you to make 3 holes for trunks with a height of 1 to 2 m, and for the higher ones - 4 holes or even more.A small amount of mycorrhiza gel is injected into each of these holes . This procedure will be facilitated by a mycorrhiza applicator, prepared especially for gardeners, available in the shop of our guide.
After applying mycorrhiza, water abundantlyto create good, moist conditions for the development of mycorrhiza. For at least 3 weeks, do not use fungicides, especially soil fungicides (fungicides will be harmful to the mycorrhiza) and do not apply or limit the dosage of mineral fertilizers (too high doses of fertilizers also limit the development of mycorrhiza).
Remember that after such application, mycorrhizal fungi must have time to grow within the entire root mass of the plant. Thereforeyou usually have to wait several months for the effects of mycorrhiza under thujaIf you use mycorrhiza in early spring, you can notice an improvement in plant growth in summer.
