Chrysanthemum (Leucanthemum vulgare) is a herbaceous perennial plant from the Asteraceae family. It grows up to 50 cm in height. The raised stem is covered with blade-shaped leaves and topped with a flower basket. White tabular petals surround the center of yellow tubular flowers. The blooming period of pyrethrum is from June to September.
Most often, pyrethrum is found in forest clearings, meadows and thickets. Selected varieties are grown as ornamental plants, perfect for planting beds and flower beds.

Chrysanthemum is not demanding. A bright, sunny position and light, well-drained, fertile soil are enough for him.
Plant care consists of planting, watering, weeding, weeding, loosening the soil and fertilizing. Plants are planted 30-50 cm apart so that they have enough space as they expand.
Chrysanthemums should be watered in moderation, as excess water can damage the roots. At the same time, the substrate should not be allowed to dry out so that the plants do not wither.
Organic fertilization with vermicompost or plant slurries has a very good effect on gilding. During the growing season, they can be additionally supplied with nitrogen fertilizers, and during the flowering period with potassium and phosphorus.
To extend the flowering time, remove dead flower heads so that the plant does not waste energy creating seeds. After its first flowering, pyrethrum may bloom again in late summer or early fall.
In autumn, cut the leaves and stem remains to avoid leaving the aerial parts for the winter. Although pyrethrum is considered a frost-resistant plant, garden varieties can be damaged by severe frosts. Therefore, it is a good idea to cover them with a thick layer of compost, dry grass or leaves.
Plants are easy to propagate from seeds, but they do not pass on their parental characteristics, which can be problematic in the case of garden varieties. In March, seeds are sown in containers with soil intended for the production of seedlings, watered and covered with a thin layer of soil. Place the containers in a warm, bright place, and when the seedlings have 3 to 4 leaves, we can quilt them into individual pots. In the second half of May, the seedlings are planted into the ground, spaced 30x30 cm. Now they will require the same care as adult plants.
In the case of garden varieties, the easiest way to propagate plants is by division. Dug up mature plants with an extended root system (3-4 years after planting) in early spring, carefully divide them into several parts and plant them in a new place.
