Durable bouquets - how to extend the life of cut flowers?

Table of contents

A lot of different plants grow on my patch of land. From spring (forsythia, daffodils, narcissus) to autumn, I bring home lots of fragrant flowers and place them in vases. I feel nice among my own plants, and they are a beautiful decoration of my home.

Durability of cut flowers
largely depends on their species. Proper care is also important. Over the years, I have tried proven ways to extend the life of my bouquets.

Transport

In hot weather, I transport flowers wrapped in paper. If the trip is longer, I additionally wrap the stems with wet cotton wool, lignin or a tissue, then put it in a plastic bag and tie it tightly.

Place for a vase

Flowers should be kept away from warm radiators, southern windows and drafts. Do not keep them in the kitchen. They are harmed by the vapors emitted during cooking and the gas emitted by the ripening fruit.

Method for microorganisms

The enemies of cut flowers are bacteria that clog the stem. To overcome them, you need to change the water and wash the dish daily. You can also put a few tablets of medical charcoal into the vase or a piece of charcoal, the same that you smoke in the grill.
