We all want a beautiful garden, but keeping it relatively tidy is not that easy. Especially when you have small children. That is why my husband and I were looking for solutions that would make our life easier.
In the first place, we decided to get rid of the large tracts of grass that grew between the discounts. Neither of us had time to take care of the lawn, which had to be regularly mowed, fertilized and also watered on dry days. We covered all the paths in the garden with a special garden stone, which eliminated the mowing problem once and for all. In the middle of the garden, we also put a circle of cobblestones, thanks to which we have a perfect place for a barbecue, which we often organize during the season.
We also got rid of the age-old problem with the mud that forms in front of the house after rain. My husband turned out to be invaluable. He came up with the idea to build a wooden landing in this place, which would above all be functional for us, and at the same time, it would look aesthetically pleasing. He made it of cedar planks and placed it a few centimeters above the ground. He left small gaps between the individual boards so that the water would not remain on them and cause it to rot too quickly. Cedar has the cool property of having special essential oils that provide some kind of maintenance, so we're not doing anything with it yet. And we built it 5 years ago!
During the holiday season, there are potted plants on the landing, taken out of the house, which love fresh air. In addition, I also decorate it with boxes with annual flowers. Recently, we have also set up a small table and garden chairs on our platform. From the beginning, it was the place where we most often rested, and now we can also drink coffee in peace.Another advantage of our platform is its location among elm trees, which shade it on hot days, giving it a pleasant coolness.
