Harden the plants in March (Tip)

Table of contents

Increasingly warmer days mean that many plants begin to wake up from winter dormancy in March and resume vegetation. This especially applies to plants from warmer climates, which are not used to a long period of dormancy. It also includes species that we keep indoors during winter due to low frost resistance.

When the temperature outside for the next few days remains above zero, and the weather forecasts do not indicate large drops in temperatures, we can take the pots with plants outside. With each passing day, the plants will gradually get used to the conditions outside. Thanks to this, they will harden and slowly prepare for the beginning of vegetation.

It is not advisable to leave the plants indoors for a long time. The delicate, young buds that develop on the shoots may be damaged by the spring sun or temperature fluctuations after being exposed to the outdoors.Similarly, bushes growing in the garden, which until now have been covered with covers, should also be prepared for the coming spring. We can now take the covers off.
