Review of onion rings

Table of contents

In recent years, wild forms of tulips, daffodils and small-flowered iris have been mainly taken up. Today, wild forms are giving way to large-flowered varieties. This is mainly due to the breeders who put a lot of effort into breeding and then promoting new varieties. Let's take a closer look at some of the suggestions.

Onions to start!

Bulbs can be planted from the beginning of September. Narcissists should reach the ground by mid-October at the latest. Then they have time to develop strong, strong roots before winter, which will allow them to better survive periods of severe frost. In areas where winter comes with a delay, tulips, Dutch irises, sapphires and other spring flowering plants may be planted until November. Tulips look best in group plantings, so to get an interesting decorative effect, we should plant at least a dozen bulbs in one place. In small flower beds or in boxes, they can be planted side by side. Tulips are not demanding, they grow in almost any type of substrate. For shaded sites, it is best to choose varieties with a light color of flowers, and for sunny ones - darker varieties.

Narcissi get the best ratings among bulbous plants, mainly due to its wide use. Large-flowered varieties are perfect for growing in perennial beds, where they are the first to herald spring. When they bloom, perennials take their place. Low wild varieties are suitable for arranging flower meadows (on the lawn). Such plantings are mowed with a lawn mower about 6 weeks after flowering, so that the bulbs can take from the dying leaves and accumulate the right amount of nutrients. Thanks to a large group of bulbous plants, you can design your garden in such a way that it will always please your eyes with abundant flowering and delight with a variety of colors.

How and where to plant?

Planting depth is of key importance for the development of bulbous plants. According to all the rules of art, the bulbs should be planted so deep that the layer of earth above them is two bulbs thick. When buying bulbs, pay attention to their size, because the larger the onion, the more beautiful the flower. High-quality onions should be firm and have a smooth, undamaged casing husk. Dried onions or bulbs with signs of rotting, especially at the heel, are not suitable for planting.
