I did not think that I would use my engineering skills for a crop rotation. My wife laughs at me because I have been keeping a notebook full of tables for several years. And for me, thanks to this, obtaining abundant and he althy crops has become very easyI decided to write and show off my achievements.

My garden is 10 ares. I divided it into two parts. On one (400 m²) I plant trees and shrubs, and on the other (600 m²) I plant vegetables and some herbs. In the table attached to the list, I present the rotation and crop rotation that I applied on the plot.

I divided the vegetable area of the garden into six equal parts. On one of them I grow perennial plants (asparagus, horseradish, seven-year-old onions, chives, rhubarb, sorrel). Asparagus grows in the same plot for 12 years.I change the place of the rest of the plants every 4 years. In the rest of the vegetable garden I use rotation and crop rotation.

Variation consists in planting plants one after another so that the same species and botanical families do not return to the same place more often than every 4-5 years. In turn, the crop rotation is simply a rotation that is planned for several years in advance.

The long-term cultivation of the same species in succession or in the same place of the plot leads to diseases and the accumulation of pests. I also learned that not rotating the soil sterilizes the soil, deprives it of minerals and enhances the growth of weeds.

When planning the rotation and crop rotation on 4 beds, I took into account the nutritional requirements of vegetables, the depth of their root system and their mutual influence.I arranged the crop rotation in advance for 5 years. After
at this time, the cycle of sowing and planting begins anew.

Every year, I grow green fertilizers (rye, buckwheat or phacelia) throughout the season on one of the fields. Then I mow them up, crush them and compost them.

After vegetables with a shorter growing season, I plant or sow those that will yield crops in the same year. For plants that require a lot of fertilizer (lettuce, Chinese cabbage, cucurbits, cabbage) I use 4 kg of compost soil per m².In the place where onions, leeks, garlic, some cucurbits will be grown - I use half of this dose, i.e. 2 kg per m².For other vegetables and plants for green fertilizers, I use a kilogram of compost per year. m².

Regular crop rotation makes the soil dark in color, retains moisture very well and is fertile.I can tell by the large number of earthworms in the garden! I have no problems with pests or diseases, because plants defend themselves.Additionally, on some fruit trees I hung a few nesting boxes, which are inhabited by birds every year.I also take care of their winter feeding, so they gladly come to my garden.
