When creating a new hyacinth bed, remember that they store all their strength in onions. Therefore, you should pay attention to their appearance. A he althy onion is a guarantee of a successful cultivation.So we do not plant specimens with mold raids, wrinkled, dry skin and discoloration.Let's also discard those with decayed smell and numerous damages. It is a waste of time to plant them, because they will not grow anyway. It is important to regularly inspect stored onions and remove any showing signs of disease.
Planting is carried out in the fall, starting in September and ending in October. For better protection against diseases, the onions are treated with a fungicide. Then we put them in the soil depending on their size:
- small - at a depth of 10 cm, in increments of 18-20 cm;
- medium - depth 15 cm, distance 8-15 cm;
- large - 20 cm deep, 4 cm distance.
Planted in autumn, hyacinths should flower in April or May of the following year.However, remember to protect them from winter by covering the planting sites with mulch made of, for example, leaves.In order for our hyacinths to bloom well, we should fertilize them properly. It is best to power them right after blowing them up.
There are many fertilizers for bulbous plants on the market. We use them in accordance with the label - most often 0.2 kg per 1 m2 of surface. Mix the spilled fertilizer with the soil. If it is acidic, apply dolomite beforehand.
Remember to carefully choose the place for the discount. Hyacinths require a light, fertile substrate and a sunny position.So it is good to add peat and sand to too heavy clay soil.In turn, very sandy soil should be enriched with humus or compost.
For beautiful springtime
Hyacinth bulbs may remain in the same place for several years.Due to the risk of fungal and bacterial diseases, a much better solution is to dig them up every year.Otherwise their flowers will be smaller and smaller, and finally they will completely die.
A practical planter will come in handy for planting hyacinths. It helps to properly prepare holes in the soil for flower bulbs.Thanks to the scraping and pouring out mechanism, the operation of the tool is simple and convenient.The depth indicator is a practical help.
