Advice: how rare and good care for balcony flowers

Table of contents

The multitude of species and varieties of plants for balconies and terraces gives almost unlimited arrangement options. In order for them to bloom he althily, abundantly and for a long time, we need to take care of them throughout the season.

The guarantee of beautifully flowering balconies and terraces is careful plant care, i.e. watering and fertilizing. Abundant and long flowering depends largely on the fertilizer you use.To feed balcony plants, slow-release fertilizers are most often used, which provide them with all the necessary nutrients throughout the season.

Plants need to take root, so we start feeding them only 2 weeks after planting. It is worth remembering the recommendations of the producers, because the wrong dose of fertilizer can damage plants and even lead to their death. So always better less than more!

Double bottom boxes

On hot days, balcony plants need to be watered daily. Unfortunately, not everyone has time for this. This problem is solved by boxes with a reservoir (double bottom, under which water collects).

1. The second bottom has the form of a special strip that fits the shape of the box and tightly adheres to the walls, so that the reservoir is not contaminated with soil. There is a place for a watering funnel in the corner.

2. We pour the soil. Irrigation occurs spontaneously thanks to capillary forces and consists in soaking water (through a special fiber) into the bottom layer of the earth. In fact, the more the soil dries, the stronger the soaking will be.

3. We plant it as in a normal box, keeping a 2-centimeter distance from the edge of the container.

4. Water through a funnel to the maximum level, preferably in the morning, before leaving the house.
