My garden is not big. In order to "enlarge" it, I additionally grow plants in various containers. It turns out that funkies, binders, lavenders, saxifrages, and even conifers and vegetables grow nicely in pots, bowls or trays!
Containers
In my opinion, clay containers are the best for growing plants at home, because they retain moisture longer. However, before I plant flowers in such a pot, I first soak it in water for one day. This makes the plant better hydrated during the first few days in the ground.
Planting
As far as the planting technique is concerned, I pay special attention to drainage, which prevents the roots of plants from “choking” in the water, they have access to air and therefore they do not rot. I never use the so-called casings (without holes), I only choose containers with holes that allow water to drain away during watering. In addition to traditional pots, I also use stoneware or wooden dishes, e.g. I keep funkkies in a clay pan for baking bread.
