Sprouts - cultivation, position, he althiest varieties, what to make of them

Sprouts are a way to get vitamins straight from the windowsill. And it's literally! In a very easy way - with the help of lignin or cotton wool or a special sprout, we can grow and collect a portion of delicious sprouts. Details below.

How to germinate seeds?

Seeds should be sprouted by washing and soaking in boiled water, preferably filtered . It must be at room temperature or lukewarm. It is important to soak smaller seeds for about 6 hours, and larger seeds for up to 10 hours.

The next phase is shifting to cotton wool or sprouting. In the germinator, pour the seeds for about 5-6 days several times a day to rinse the water through all floors. Place them in a semi-shaded room - too much sun exposure will cause them to fog up and form mold.

When are the sprouts ready to eat?

Depending on the variety, sprouts are ready to eat within 5-7 days, from sowing on cotton wool or in a sprinkler.

Set of specific sprouts:

  • Radish sprouts - 5-6 days
  • Broccoli sprouts - 4-6 days
  • Mung bean sprouts - 2-4 days
  • Cress sprouts - 5-7 days
  • Red beet sprouts - 6-8 days

Why are the sprouts molding?

The reason for the formation of mold when growing on cotton wool or in a sprout is inadequate hydration - overflow and moisture of seeds.Rinse the seeds so that the water runs off all floors of the sprout. Cotton wool must be moist, with access to oxygen - it must not be wet enough for water to leak out.

Another issue is the mistaken suspicion of mold - some of the sprouts are hairy in nature with lateral roots that have clusters of hairs. For example, radish, cabbage or black radish are some of the representatives.
