The residual snow not only breaks out fragile branches, but also prevents air from reaching the green needles.In such places, the needles often turn brown in spring due to fungal pathogens.During winter walks in the garden, carefully brush the snow off the branches.

A frozen pond does not act as a slide.Let's also not forget that it cannot be walked on.Fish need to be calm and have access to air, preferably by placing a special float in the pond, the so-called artificial ice hole, or a bundle of dry rushes.

Plants in the house also require careful care. When airing the rooms, they must not stand by the open window. Also, they must not be near heaters.We limit watering and sprinkle those species that like moisture in the air.

In home gardens, painting the trunks with lime before winter is a beneficial procedure. It is best to paint the trunk with mixed lime and water, from the root to the branching.
Contrary to appearances, this treatment does not significantly affect the occurrence of pests or diseases, but it effectively protects the trunk against cracking caused by temperature differences.The white color reflects the sun's rays, thanks to which the bark does not heat up out.
Potassium-phosphorus fertilization and liming
The vast majority of Polish lands are too acidic for fruit plants. When we find that the pH of the soil in the garden is below 6, liming must be performed. Agricultural lime is suitable for this purpose, and in the case of its lack, ordinary quicklime.We sprinkle it evenly over the entire surface of the garden.Proceed similarly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.They are slow-acting fertilizers, therefore the best time to fertilize with these ingredients is autumn and the beginning of winter.
During the winter, fertilizers and lime will slowly dissolve and move with the water from the melted snow to the root system of trees.
