Before I present the entire process, i.e. from the idea to the final concept of land development, important note:the concept is just an introduction to the future project. Thus, the stage in which the shape, functions and layout of the future garden are discussed.Nevertheless, it was worth devoting a lot of attention to him, because he is responsible for the success of the future project and the overall development of the area in general.
The process of developing a garden concept, which in my opinion may be a ready-made instruction on how to tackle this issue, can be divided into several main stages. The first one that is worth doing at home, which was also the case in my case, is looking for inspiration. So this is the stage in which, before meeting the designer, it is worth taking a look at various gardens, for example on my blog www.zogrodemnaty.pl, to be able to find out what I really like, what style, what layout and what solutions are used in today's garden arrangements. Moreover, which of them not only suit my preferences, but also match the plot, its character and location.
The second stage is the first meeting with the designers of the garden, in my case Quercus Mikołajczyk, which discusses the above-mentioned inspirations, learns about the expectations of the future garden, and also initially determines the style of the future garden.
In my case, taking into account the location of the plot, the style of the house being built, as well as my preferences, we focused on a modern garden, based on lines parallel to the walls of the building. By the way, it is worth adding that in line with the old, but in my opinion still valid, classical school of design, the main lines of the garden can be based on:
As I mentioned, I chose variant 1 that best suits the modern character of the building. So, based on such a selection, the Designers provided me with examples of various design and catalog solutions to visualize how the selected variant can present itself in garden arrangements.
Additionally, as the title of the introductory conversation, we analyzed my various additional expectations, following which we established what should be in the future garden, as well as what solutions and materials I like the most. All the arrangements resulted in the preparation of a preliminary sketch, which became the seed for a future, preliminary garden design concept.
The next stage, which is the result of working arrangements, is the development by the Designers of a preliminary garden development concept. The concept was created in two variants - I and II, similar in principle, but differing in details and partial arrangement of individual zones.
These materials were sent to me for reading, but also for suggestions and comments, which were to be the subject of the next, second meeting with the Designers. As you can imagine, I liked some elements in the first variant, others in the second, and additionally I wanted to completely change and add something. And this is what we discussed at the meeting during which the designers expressed their position on the comments I submitted. I would like to emphasize that not all of them have been adopted, as they approach the project in a technical manner, according to their knowledge and experience, and bearing in mind the elements and solutions that must be kept in order for the whole to be practical and functional.Hence, some of my suggestions have been taken into account, others have been slightly modified, and others have been replaced with something else. The result of the meeting was the development of the final concept by the Designers, which was the transfer of everything that we had previously agreed to the background.
The final concept of garden management was created, which meets all functional and technical conditions, and at the same time takes into account my wishes and dreams about the future garden and constitutes the basis for further design studies. And these further studies, which I will mention in the next posts of this series, are the development of the design of the surface and materials for construction (cubes, edges, slabs, fences), which will be done by the Bruk - Bet company, a detailed design of plantings, water solutions, lighting and 3D visualization , which will be done again by Quercus Mikołajczyk and the irrigation project, which will be the result of the work of Gardena. And only then will I be able to consider the project complete and use it for the construction that will start soon, which of course will also be reported in this cycle.
In conclusion, I will add that the development of both the described concept and subsequent projects is a lot of work, in which both the designers and myself have to put in, to think it all over and combine it into one whole. However, this action undoubtedly has one basic goal: it is to facilitate my work at the stage of gardening, and at the same time protect me from ill-considered actions, and thus avoid mistakes, confusion and unnecessary costs. So, make it possible to create a garden as I dreamed of.
