Cultivation of shrub cinquefoilis best done in light, sandy, moderately moist soils, in sunny positions. However, you should remember to water the cinquefoil regularly, because it is sensitive to long-term drying of the soil and excessive heat. At the beginning of the growing season, it is worth applying a multi-component fertilizer intended for flowering plants.Shrubby cinquefoilare not attacked by pests or diseases, their roots may rot in heavy, flooded soils.
Cinquefoil becomes lignified with age and a bit overloaded with a large number of thin, weak and stretched shoots, which flower less and less.To avoid such a situation, you should take care ofregular cutting of the shrub cinquefoilTherefore, immediately after the flowers of the cinquefoil have faded, cut the ends of the shoots with a pruner. Also prune shoots that are excessively bulky and bare at the bottom of leaves.
Cutting the shrubby cinquefoilis to stimulate the flowering of the bush and encourage it to spread. The first cut should be made after planting. Then we also trim all weak and damaged growths. Cut the remaining shoots in half to stimulate the development of new shoots that develop from the base of the plant.
The main pruning of the shrubby cinquefoilis to remove the flower debris and keep the plant habit compact. Cutting should encourage the plants to develop many new shoots so that they will not be bare at the base with age. In mid-spring, all long, bulging shoots should be trimmed. Older shoots and excessively thickened growths should be trimmed by 1/3.
The reproduction of the shrub cinquefoilis easy and is almost always successful. This shrub is propagated by semi-woody cuttings taken in summer. Cut cuttings 8-10 cm long with a heel or a piece of 2-year-old wood from semi-woody side shoots of the cinquefoil. Then the seedling is planted in a mixture of peat and sand in a ratio of 1: 1.
It happens thatcuttings of shrub cinquefoilgrow even before rooting. The frame should be shaded, aired and the temperature should be slowly lowered to winter the seedlings in the temperature of 5-10 ° C. The shoots of the shrubby cinquefoil can be additionally dipped in a rooting plant (rooting for semi-woody cuttings will be suitable) and planted in the ground, covering them with perforated foil. In spring, the seedlings are transplanted to the seedbed, regularly watered and grown for a year. We plant a bush cinquefoil in autumn.
