Ecological spraying of grapevines

In amateur viticulture in the home garden, natural methods to strengthen plants and ecological preparations to fight diseases and pests of grapevines will be perfect. Get to know proven recipes.

Diseases and pests wreak the greatest havoc among weakened, less resistant plants. The basic treatment in their protection should be, first of all, strengthening the vines. Ecological spraying can be done with preparations of horsetail, nettle, onion or garlic. We can use them to make decoctions or liquid manure used for watering or spraying plants.

Plant preparations will also help when plants have already been infected. In order to effectively fight fungal diseases such as powdery and downy mildew, anthracnose or gray mold, it is worth using preparations that do not harm the environment.

Dung with onion and garlic

Garlic and onion husk manure is an effective fungicide. To prepare it, take 50-100 g of husks, pour 2 liters of water and set aside for a week. After diluting with water in a ratio of 1: 1, spray against fungal diseases and mites

Ecological stocks and extracts

Horsetail extract

Horsetail is highly valued in the fight against fungal diseases, as it effectively prevents and helps fight infections.

Prepare 0.25 g of dried horsetail and pour over 3 liters of water. Cook for half an hour on low heat. Pour the prepared decoction into a larger vessel and dilute with water in a ratio of 1: 5. Leave for 2 weeks, stirring thoroughly every day. Spray the prepared preparation regularly on the grapevines, both prophylactically and after finding an infection.

Horsetail decoction

Spraying with a decoction of horsetail is very effective in the fight against powdery and false mildew. We spray many times, starting in spring.

- A kilogram of fresh herb or 150 g of dried herb, pour 10 liters of water and cook for half an hour. Add a little gray soap. Use after diluting with water in a ratio of 1: 5.

- Take 30g of dry herb or 300g of fresh herb, pour over a little water and simmer for 30 minutes. Dilute with water in a ratio of 1:20.

In the fight against vines pests such as aphids, spider mites, mites, worms and caterpillars, measures that do not harm either nature or man can help us.

Soap emulsions for combating aphids, spider mites, mites and caterpillars

In horticulture, agents based on gray soap and various liquid fats have been used for a long time. In the era of getting back to nature, it is worth remembering some of the recipes.

Dissolve 1.5 liters of cooking oil and 100 g of gray soap in 9 liters of water. We spray the plants regularly at weekly intervals.

Dissolve 30 g of gray soap and 30 g of denatured alcohol in 10 l of water. After 2-3 hours, the preparation is ready for use.

Nettle manure

Take 2 kg of nettle herb and pour 10 liters of water. Leave for 5 days. Filter and apply aphid control to grapevines diluted with water at a ratio of 1:20

Nettle water

Prepare 1 kg of nettle herb and pour over 10 liters of water. After 24 hours, spray the plants with nettle water. Spraying effectively combats pests and creates a cover on the leaves discouraging them from feeding.

Fern manure

Pour 1 kg of fresh herb or 100 l of water. After 3-4 weeks, spray the grapevine with the preparation in order to combat June.

Yarrow extract

800g dried herb, pour boiling water over it and let it sit for 2 hours. Filter the extract and fill up to 10 liters with water. Spray against spider mites, caterpillars and aphids several times.
