"I sow carrots according to my own idea" - Maria Kaczan, Jasło
The twenty-third season of my operation is about to begin. I really have a lot to be proud of! Over the years, I have gained knowledge and experience, which I am happy to share with other gardening enthusiasts, that is, the same fans of work and rest in the garden.

This time I would like to give you a carrot tip. After all, we know from experience that it is not always possible to grow a he althy and plump carrot. The problem is complex and not easy.
Most of us sow carrots in mid-May. And I advise you to do this: two weeks before sowing, wrap the seeds in an old cloth, moisten them with water and bury them to the depth of a spade, somewhere in the bed.Later, gently step on the ground and clearly mark the place where we buried the wad.Over time, the soil will "mature", the seeds will become heavier, more and more swollen, some may even start to sprout.
What are the most important mistakes made in the cultivation of carrots?
Carrots are a valued vegetable with not too high cultivation requirements, therefore it is perfect for amateur cultivation on a plot and in a home greengrocer. However, also here you can make a few technical mistakes that will significantly limit our yield.
Error 1 - bad surface. The best yield of carrots is obtained on slightly acidic soils (pH from 5.5 to 6.8 depending on the severity of the soil). Plantations should not be established on too acidic, let alone alkaline soils. If the pH of the substrate is increased by liming, sowing carrots can only be done in the next growing season.
Mistake 2 - wrong way of growing. Carrots can be grown directly in the ground ("flat") or in ridges. The choice of cultivation method depends on the severity of the soil you have. Cultivation in soil that is too heavy, clayey, rocky, crusted or too moist will limit growth, deformation and forking of the roots. In such cases, cultivation on ridges is recommended.
Mistake 3 - not enough sun. Carrots do not have any special thermal requirements, so they can be grown successfully all over Poland. Nevertheless, in order to obtain the best results (carotene and sugar content), it is recommended to cultivate in sunny locations.

And what to do when it's time to sow? According to my proven recipe, then you should carefully dig the bed, without rushing, and sprinkle ash over the entire space in the proportion of 1 cup per 1 m². Then, gently comb the enriched soil with a rake to break up soil lumps.
I suggest that you later make a small groove along the entire bed and stretch the string. Make a distance of 40 cm between the rows. Then we tread a groove in the flower bed (it is important to do this foot by foot), and then gently water the flower beds with water. When the water is soaked in, start sowing. We take the seeds out of the cloth and place them at intervals of 5-6 cm. Then cover it with soil, gently pat it, but don't water it anymore!
The first sunrises will appear after about a week. Now water the beds and gently comb the space between them with a rake. The carrots will grow up great! I can guarantee because mine always grows like crazy.I often share the crops with my neighbor. And this way you can sow all varieties of carrots. I like 'Nantes' or its crosswords the most. The result is always great.
I use my carrot method to grow parsley, beets, and onions
and annual bulbs.
Finally, I would like to remind you what is the most important - do not forget to bury the seeds, preferably 12-14 days before the planned sowing!
