Plants for a shady corner - plants for shade

Table of contents

The shade in the gardenoccurs in varying degrees. By observing its movement during the day, we find places where it will rain in the morning, half of the day, but also throughout the day. Its sources can be trees, shrubs, hedges, fences, northern walls of buildings.
Perennials growing in the shadeor partial shade have adapted their structure and development in each of its zones. In the natural environment, the diversity of plants
in the undergrowth is specific and results from their adaptation to the amount of incoming light.
The development of plants under deciduous trees or shrubs begins in early spring.During this time, they grow strongly and bloom intensively. They must use the maximum exposure period before the leaves develop on trees or shrubs. An interesting compositional solution in such places areplanting of bulbous plantsvery early flowering, e.g. crocuses. The leaves of hornbeam, oak, beech and hazel will shade them strongly, but despite the small amount of light, we can also create interesting compositions here.
Plants adapt to life in the shade also thanks to the specific structure of the leaves. Those that grow in shady places, mainly under conifers, have large, thin, without wax coating or hairs, flattened and directed so that they absorb as much light as possible. These are, for example, ferns and funkies. In places where the light almost does not reach at all, we can plant turf evergreen plants, e.g. common ivy, hoof moth, Japanese marshmallow or those dying for the winter, e.g. lily of the valley and lake eat.
In addition to the intensity of light, you also need to take into account the level of soil moisture.
In shaded places , but humid, they will feel good, for example, funkia or lungwort. On the other hand, in dry ones, e.g. spotted lamellas or acorns.Designing
a corner with shade-loving plants , we can be inspired by the natural environment, e.g. plant perennials specific to oak-hornbeam forests or create our own compositions, taking into account the plant habitat conditions. You should also choose interesting colors and flowering dates so that our arrangement is vibrant with life. Plants in dry and shaded positions should be planted at the end of August and not later than the beginning of October, and in damp and shaded places - in spring and autumn.
