Sea-buckthorn, elderberry, hazelnuts - priceless gifts of nature

Table of contents

I live near the forest and I appreciate it very much. In the summer, I pick blueberries, mushrooms and blueberries. In the fall, hazelnuts, and after the first frosts, I go for blackthorn, dogwood, elderberry and juniper. Juices and tinctures from these fruits are especially valuable and tasty in winter.

Tarnina for colds

Small stones should be removed from the dogwood and sloe. I have my own way of doing this: I boil the fruit in a little water and rub it through a sieve. I add sloe juice mainly to compotes, but also to mulled wine with cinnamon when I have a cold.

Black for flu and strengthening

In the case of flu, elderberry juice is always invaluable, as it has antipyretic and diaphoretic effects. The infusion of dried fruits and flowers of this shrub has similar healing properties. I dry the inflorescences at a temperature of no more than 35 ° C in a ventilated and shaded place, while the fruit in an oven preheated to 40 ° C.

My friend makes a sweet tincture from elderberry fruit. However, in early summer I serve pancakes with flowers of this shrub. I cut them and toss them into a slightly thicker pancake dough. I add two tablespoons of cream and some rice flour. When it fades, I use ruffled rose petals instead. Such pancakes are delicious.

Sea buckthorn - vitamin bomb

I bring orange sea-buckthorn berries from my daughter from the seaside every year. Thoroughly washed, I put them in a jar, sprinkle them with sugar, and then put them in the fridge. I add them to compotes and various desserts.
