Fejhoa and the flesh-colored shotgun

P:In March, I bought some plants to grow in my garden and at home. Upon purchase, I received Polish and Latin names. Unfortunately, there is no information in my gardening books about two plants: Feijnoa Sellowiana (Acca sellowiana) and Annona muricata. Both plants are said to be edible and even medicinal.

O:Fejhoa Feijoa sellowiana, son. Acca sellowiana is indeed a useful plant that is grown in South America. It is a tall shrub which in nature grows up to 4.5 m in height. It is grown for its edible flowers and guava-like fruits that appear after a hot summer. The fruits have a slightly spicy flavor. They can be eaten raw or made into jams. It should grow in a permeable, humus substrate. During the ripening period of the fruit, it should be watered abundantly.Flowers appear on this year's shoots. After fruiting, the bush can be pruned and shaped into a tree.

Fleszowiec soft-handled Annona muricata is a tree also from South America. The fruits of this tree are quite large, with an asymmetrical oval shape and are among the sweetest tropical fruitsThe skin is covered with soft spines. This plant requires sunny locations and a fertile, well-drained substrate. It blooms and bears fruit most of the year. In our climate, these plants grow best in a warm greenhouse.Grown at home may not bear fruit.

Southern Kłokoczka in Poland

P:Please give me information about the southern hairlock.

O:Staphylea pinnata is a compact shrub up to 4 m high. It blooms in May with white, drooping inflorescences about 15 cm long. The fruit is a spherical, light green, 2-3-lobed bloated bag.The seeds mature in October. After annual stratification, they can be used to propagate the bush. In natural habitats, the log is found in central and southern Europe.

In Poland it is found in the south-east. Sometimes it is planted in parks. It can freeze during severe winters, even in the west of the country.Clotter requires a sheltered, semi-shaded or sunny position and constantly moderately moist soil. Suitable for naturalistic plantings.
