Christmas headdress

There are plenty of ideas for making a reed. The very shape of the reed creates a dilemma. Christmas centerpiececan be round, rectangular, wreath-shaped, lie on a table or hang on a door, etc. In this article, we will describe a Christmas centerpiece -how to make a centerpiece in the shape of a rectangle standing on a table, the base of which will be a rectangular container and green branches of conifers. We decorate our headdress with aromatic citrus and Christmas gingerbread.

Materials for a Christmas headdress

  • Wooden box, plastic pot or wicker rectangular basket etc. - how big you choose the container, so big the headdress will be
  • Floral sponge for dry compositions - available at any flower shop or garden center
  • Sprigs of spruce, fir, juniper - various species will look more interesting in a reed. It is also worth paying attention to the rarely used twigs of thuja, which, when rubbed, give off a characteristic balsamic smell, and besides, they are flaccid and can be easily formed.
  • Citrus - oranges loaded with cloves, dried orange and lemon slices, lemon halves, tangerines, limes etc.
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Gingerbreads - various Christmas shapes
  • Dried twigs with the fruits of shrubs such as rowan, fire or holly
  • Long wooden toothpicks
  • Candles - the number depends on the size of the reed
  • Ribbons

How to make a Christmas headdress step by step

Step 1
PreparingChristmas headdressin the first step, we start by filling a wooden box (or other container) with a floristic sponge. We do not soak it in water! It is best for the sponge to tightly fill the inside of the box. This keeps the reed from moving.
Step 2
We take our coniferous twigs and, starting from the bottom towards the top of the reed, stick them into a sponge. We should try to make the twig stuck in its place, it will prevent too much holes in the sponge, which could cause the twigs to fall out.

Good advice! Before we start hammering into the sponge, remove the needles from the lower parts of the twigs so that the twigs will stick better in the sponge. Let's do it sensitively so as not to remove too many needles.

Twigs should cover the entire sponge tightly. The sponge cannot be seen from between the twigs.
Step 3
"Once we have our green base of the Christmas centerpiece ready, we can proceed to decorate with fruit and gingerbread. Remember not to overdo it with the amount of additives, let&39;s follow the principle of less is more. Spike the oranges with cloves and lemon halves on wooden toothpicks and stick the other end into a floristic sponge. Dried citrus slices and gingerbread cookies can be attached to the twigs with ribbons. We do the same with cinnamon sticks. To add red color, add sprigs with rowan fruit or a fire or holly. Remember to leave a place for candles!

"

Step 4
When we decoratedthe Christmas ornamentwe put candles in it. Their size and number should depend on the size of the reed. I always put one large, wider candle, or three smaller ones, also wide. I choose larger and wider candles because of the practicality - they are easier to put on top of the reed, they are more stable.
Step 5
When theChristmas headdressis ready, place it on an empty table and walk a few steps away from it. Examine it carefully from all sides and check that everything is well, that the sponge does not stick out, that the accessories and candles are arranged symmetrically. It is worth considering whether to add a final touch, e.g. powder it with a bit of artificial snow or golden glitter.
