In winter, paving stonesand concrete surfaces in the garden are exposed to adverse weather conditions, harmful s alt and mechanical damage. It is therefore worth finding out how to remedy this and what to do to make the paving stone look like new in the spring and serve us for many years. Seehow to take care of cobblestones in winterand learn safe ways toremoving ice and snow from cobblestonesPractical advice is provided by Mrs. Małgorzata Gral, surface designer at Jadar company.

Whether the surface around our house will survive the winter period largely depends not only on whether the paving stones have been properly laid, but above all on its impregnation. If we did not do it in autumn, nothing is lost - we cansecure the paving stones during the winterIt is important that there is no snow outside, it is dry and the temperature is above zero.
-Paving stone impregnationshould of course be preceded by a thorough cleaning of dirt, mud or various stains. Then, we can proceed to impregnation by selecting the appropriate hydrophobic preparation, which will not only strengthen the color and structure, but also increase the resistance of the paving stone to abrasion and dirt. Its appropriate properties will create a special protective layer on the ankle, which will protect it from water absorption into the concrete structure - suggests Małgorzata Gral, surface designer at Jadar. The surface prepared in this way will not only survive frosts, but also protect it from mechanical damage.
Winter is a time of frosts, heavy, wet snow and frequent changes in temperature. All these factors contribute to the formation oficing on driveways and paved paths , which we most often sprinkle with s alt. However, this is not the best idea.
- S alt that remains on the cube for too long may damage its surfaces, discolor it, and weaken the effect of the impregnation used. Additionally, it can penetrate the soil and adversely affect the plants in our garden. It may not be noticeable in winter, but we will definitely see the effects of using s alt in spring - adds Małgorzata Gral.
An alternative issprinkling magnesium chloride on slippery places , which will not only damage concrete surfaces, but also more economical. The cheapest and safest method, however, is plain sand.It prevents slipping, anddoes not damage the paving stonesIn addition, sand has one more advantage. Its residues perfectly penetrate into the crevices of the paving stones, which in winter can be washed away by melting snow.
The biggest bane of the winter weather is the excess of snow. In order to get rid of it, various types of shovels and other devices are most often in motion. However, let's not forget that under a thick layer of snow there is a surface that can be damaged due to too vigorous movements. We will avoid this by usingto clear the paving stonesgardening tools only with a plastic end, which will easily remove the snow without damaging the paving stones. Additionally, the big advantage is that they are much lighter and cheaper.
