Jasmine

Wild jasmine grows in Africa, Asia and Australia. For this reason, it cannot be grown in gardens as it would not be able to break the Polish winter. But it works great as afragrant pot plant with a climbing habit .

Jasmine produces numerous, tinyflowers, giving off a very characteristic sweet smell . They can be white, yellow or pink. Flowers grow singly or they can be collected on a stem as much as a dozen, forming small bunches.
Inthese fragrant flowers are grown at home, , three species of jasmine are most often found: jasmine (Jasminum officinale), jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) and jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum). Each species blooms at a different time. Jasmine blooms with its white flowers from June to autumn. Flower jasmine flowers in January and ends in April. On the other hand, the worldwide jasmine is showered with yellow flowers from December to April.Jasmine requires bright (but not very sunny) sites and fertile, moist soil.

Gardenia jasminoides (Gardenia jasminoides) comes from East Asia. It is a low (up to 50 cm tall) evergreen shrub,grown as a fragrant houseplant , often used in bonsai art. Gardenia blooms in May and the flowers remain on the plant until September. The most popular variety is 'Veitchiana', which flowers in winter (December-January). Herflowers smell very intensely , giving off a jasmine-like scent. However, it should be remembered that jasmine gardenia is not an easy plant to grow and is certainly not suitable for amateurs. It is especially difficult to get it to bloom again.

Stefanotis bouquetowy (Stephanotis floribunda) is a potted climber from Madagascar, the shoots of which can grow up to 10 m in length. Its main decoration is white,tubular flowers, intensely fragrant . They give off an aroma that resembles that of a lily of the valley.

The flowers are gathered multiflorous clusters, growing out of the leaf axils. Stefanotis sakwita in May-June and blooms all summer. Stephanotis flowers are sometimes used in wedding bouquets. When growing it, it should be remembered that it requires very good lighting. Especially if we want it to bloom again.

4. Hoja

Hoje are easy-to-maintain climbing plants from the Far East and tropical regions of Australia. In summer (from June to September), they bloom, creating characteristic large inflorescences composed of star-shaped flowers. Theirflowers fill the room with a sweet, intense fragrance
However,not all hoi species smell!Hoya carnosa, which is most often grown in our homes, unfortunately does not produce fragrant flowers. The fragrant species of hoi are, among others.in: H. pubicalyx, H. serpens, H. lacunosa, H. obscura, H. latifolia, H. limoniaca, H. diptera, H. australis, H. pallida.

5. Eucharis

Eucharis, or Amazon lily, is an interesting potted onion plant from Peru. Its long, shiny green leaves resemble aspidistry leaves. Eucharis produces large (7-8 cm in diameter), white, star-shaped flowers, growing in clusters of 6, located at the top of a long (50 cm) peduncle. They resemble narcissus flowers. Eucharis can repeat flowering several times a year (January-February, August-September), spreading a wonderful scent in the room.
