The floor in the gazebo

Table of contents

The idea to make a gazebo appeared after the removal of the tin garage that used to stand in this place.

I used the 8x8 cm square timber left over from the construction of the farm building. The centers of the floor beams and each of the columns are attached to the ground with metal angles. As a result, water does not soak into the wooden elements of the structure.

The boards used to make the roof have been milled on one side. As a result, when viewed from below, you can see that the ceiling is paneled. I made the roof covering from bituminous shingle.

The newly built gazebo has survived the winter. In the spring, I started to think what to do with the floor. The spout that was previously made for the garage began to peel off slowly. Additionally, a lot of dust appeared in the gazebo and it was necessary to wash it frequently. I thought about laying the tiles, but everyone I spoke to warned me that sooner or later the tiles would start to fall off. In this situation, my cousin gave me a very good idea. He runs a company that deals with the laying of polyurethane pavements. We have agreed that the floor in the gazebo will be made in the same way as the sports surface - that is, made of plastic.

Thoroughly clean the old spout and replenish all the chipped places. Then the surface was strengthened and secured with a special primer. After drying, a polyurethane screed was applied and covered with rubber granules. After 24 hours, the surface was covered with a second layer of polyurethane screed and finished with red tartan.

Such a floor in the gazebo has many advantages.First of all, it is jointless, so autumn rainfall or winter frosts do not harm it. When it comes to maintaining cleanliness, the porosity of the floor may be a minor downside. However, I found a good solution for that as well. The pavement in the gazebo can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or a pressurized water hose. For those interested in these substrates, I recommend the website www.navi-sport.pl, where you can find more information.
