Spraying fruit trees in Marchhelps to avoid dangerous diseases of fruit plants, which often cannot be eradicated at a later date. That is why, apart from cutting trees, they are one of the most important spring treatments in orchards. Find outwhat spraying of fruit trees to carry out in Marchand what plant protection products to use for this purpose. Here are the most importantMarch spraying of fruit trees !
Spraying fruit trees in March
In March, we spray the peach treesagainst leaf curl. It is the most dangerous and annually occurring peach disease, caused by the fungus Taphrina deformans. If we do not perform preventive spraying in March, in May, when the first symptoms appear, it will be too late to fight this disease. The spores hibernate on the bark of the trees and on the scales of the buds. Leaf infection can occur as soon as the buds swell.
Peach trees are sprayed with Miedzian 50 WP or Miedzian Extra 350 SC. We perform the treatment in the leafless period, when the buds are swelling. We have been observing trees in this respect since the second half of February, and the spraying period is around the turn of February and March. We spray when the air temperature reaches a minimum of 6 ° C. We use a dose of 10 g of Miedzian 50 WP dissolved in 1 liter of water. This amount of liquid is sufficient for 10 m² of cultivation. In the case of Miedzian Extra 350 SC, we dose 10 ml of the agent per 1 liter of water. We perform a maximum of 1 treatment per season.
Another effective agentfor spraying fruit trees in March , limiting the development of peach leaf curl is Syllit 65 WP. We spray the trees with it from the moment of bud swelling to the phase of their fall. The manufacturer's recommended dose of the preparation is: 13 g of the agent dissolved in 5-15 l of water. This dose is sufficient for 100 m² of cultivation. We use water at room temperature to prepare the working liquid. We perform two sprays with Syllit 65 WP with an interval of 7-10 days (the first should be in the phase of bud swelling). We spray when the temperature exceeds 6 ° C.
Reducing the use of chemical spraying with plant agents is possible thanks to 2 new natural preparations against peach leaf curl, which appeared in 2018and are intended for use in organic farming. The first one is Lecitec based on natural lecithin. Lecithin strengthens cell membranes, inhibiting the penetration of pathogens into plant tissues. The Lecitec preparation can be sprayed on peaches from the moment of breaking the leaf buds until the fruit ripens. In total, up to 12 treatments per season, spraying every 5-7 days. Use 25 ml of the preparation for 6 liters of water.
Since we can spray Lecitec from the moment peach leaf buds break, we can spray it instead of Copper. For the best effectiveness, however, we suggest spraying with Miedzian for the first time, and then starting with lecitec after 7 days.

Another preparation against leaf curl is Evasiol. It is a preparation based on horsetail, well-known to ecological gardeners. We start spraying the peach with Evasiol from the moment the flower buds burst until the end of flowering, making 2-6 treatments at intervals of 7 days.
"Referring to the aforementioned proposal for the first spraying with Miedzian, and then subsequent ones with Lecitec, let&39;s add Evasiol to this from the moment the flower buds break. Spray Lecitec and Evasiol alternately, abandoning completely any use of chemical preparations in the later vegetation period. In this way, we can finally effectively combat frizz with ecological preparations!

In March, we spray theapple trees to combat the fungus Podosphaera leucotricha, which causes powdery mildew. The mycelium hibernates on the shoots and in the buds, together with the start of the vegetation, the fungus infects the developing leaves.
On the plotsspray the apple trees with Siarkol 800 SCSpray the trees before flowering and immediately after flowering. We use a dose of 75 ml of the agent diluted in 6 liters of water, which is enough for 100 m² of plantations. We do not spray in warm and very dry weather due to the plants sensitivity to sulfur. We perform no more than 6 treatments with Siarkol 800 SC during the growing season, with 7-10 days intervals between treatments.
We can also use another version of Siarkol, Siarkol Extra 80 WP, for these sprays. Both preparations have the same effect. The difference is thatSiarkol 800 SC is a liquid preparation, and Siarkol 80 WP is a powderIt is therefore worth considering which preparation will be easier for us to measure.
Against the powdery mildew on apple trees, we can also use the ecological Lecitecpreparation, which I have just mentioned with the peach curl. The time of use and dosage are the same as for peach.
In early spring, fruit trees are exposed to infection with the bacterium Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae, a disease causing bacterial carcinoma of stone trees. Most often it attacks cherries, sweet cherries, peaches and apricots. Bacteria hibernate on the surface of shoots, in buds and in the bark of fruit trees. As a preventive measure, we spraystone trees in Marchto avoid disease development. Especially, if the disease appeared on cultivated trees a year earlier.
Tofight bacterial cancer in Marchwe use the already mentioned preparation Miedzian 50 WP. We use a dose of 3 g of the agent in 0.5-0.75 l of water, which allows the treatment to be performed on an area of 10 m2. We spray the trees prophylactically in the phase of swelling of flower buds. We repeat the next treatments in the flowering phase and the fruit growth phase. We spray ourselves when the air temperature reaches a minimum of 6 ° C.
The first sunny days in March are the time when the apple flower beetles (Anthonomus pomorum) become active. It is a very dangerous pest of apple orchards. It begins feeding in the phase of bud swelling. It bites holes in them, from which the juice leaks - the so-called spring cry of buds. This, in turn, favors infections of fungal diseases. Against the apple blossoms we performspraying the apple trees in Marchas soon as we observe the first symptoms of its feeding (characteristic round holes in the buds). "
We can use the agent Deltam against apple blossom.Spray the trees just before or during the cracking of apple flower buds , on sunny days, when the temperature reaches at least 12 ° C. We use a dose of 7.5 ml of the agent in 7 liters of water per 100m² of cultivation. Spraying can be repeated after 14 days.
March is also a good time to spray paraffin oil against pests wintering on plants. Pests awakening from hibernation, e.g. fruit spider larvae hatching from eggs, begin intensive respiratory processes during this period. Paraffin oil creates a thin film on plants and sticks to the bodies of pests, making it difficult for them to breathe. In Effect, the pests suffocate and do not start feeding on the plant. For the spraying to be effective, spray all the branches very thoroughlyand generously, so that the agent runs down on them (but it should not drip!).
In this way, the winter stages of the fruit spider mite, all aphids or the plum cup are combated. We spray all fruit trees, especially apple trees, pear trees, plums, cherries , but also fruit bushes and ornamental trees. It is worth, for example, spraying pines, spruces and larches against the wormwoods overwintering on them or the thuja on the thuja bowl.
March spraying with natural paraffin oilwill avoid harmful chemical spraying at a later stage, when the plants will be already full of beneficial insects. The most popular horticultural preparations containing paraffin oil are: Promanal 60 EC and Treol 770 EC.
Irecommend a slightly newer preparationcalled Emulpar 940 EC for the March oil spraying. It contains another oil, namely corn oil (natural vegetable oil obtained from camelina). Emulpar has some advantages over Promanal that should be appreciated by gardeners. Well, the paraffin oil in Promanal applied to already leafy plants may cause mild phytotoxicity symptoms in the form of brown spots on the leaves.
Meanwhile, oil contained in Emulpar 940 EC does not cause such symptoms and we can use it to spray also leafy plantsin the full growing season. Therefore, if we are not sure that we will be able to perform the oil spraying before the first leaves appear on the plants, it is better to choose Emulpar 940 EC. Then we will not have to hurry: -)
