Ecological spraying of fruit trees

Table of contents

Ecological spraying of fruit treeshas a large impact on the quantity and quality of crops that we will collect in the upcoming growing season. They are a good idea if you don't want to introduce chemicals into your garden or orchard. Because eating organically grown apples, pears or cherries is definitely better and he althier. See what preparations can be used forecological spraying of fruit treesHere is the schedule from spring to autumn!

Ecological spraying of fruit trees

In early spring, the buds appear on the trees and already at this timeecological spraying of fruit trees At this time of the year and at later dates, chemical spraying against plant pests can also kill numerous beneficial insects, so it is worth using natural plant protection products. Fortunately, there are many preparations made from natural ingredients. They are not toxic to the environment. They also do not have a negative effect on the insects pollinating our fruit trees - especially the number of bees, of which there are less and less.

Ecological oil spraying (early spring)

One of the ecological measures are oil preparations, mainly based on paraffin oil.Spraying fruit trees with paraffin oil from the end of February to around mid-MarchSpraying paraffin oil can be prepared by yourself (we buy liquid paraffin in a pharmacy - Paraffinum liquidum - and dissolve it in water in the amount of 100 ml of paraffin for 5-6 liters of water) or buy ready-made preparations in the store, e.g. Promanal 60 EC or Treol 770 EC.
An even better solution isusing Emulpar 940 EC based on saffron oil Rydzowy oil is a cooking oil obtained from flaxseed, which is a traditional speci alty from Wielkopolska. It is not only safe, but also very he althy for peopleThe former was often hosted on our tables, later it was replaced by the mass-produced rapeseed oil.
Effectiveness of Emulpar spraying is comparable to agents based on paraffin oil , but unlike them, natural Emulpar 940 EC can also be used during the growing season. This is an additional argument for choosing this measure!

All the above-mentioned oil preparations work in such a way that when we spray the plant with it, a wax coating is formed on its surface, which surrounds the pests. This does not bother the plant, but the pests then start to suffocate and die.
Oily agents can be used when we notice pests such as bowls, spider mites, aphids. By sprayingwith oil agents in the early springwe will destroy the wintering stages of these pests.Spraying should be carried out both in the orchard, destroying the winter eggs of the fruit spider mite and the plum cup, as well as on ornamental trees and shrubs (e.g. against spider mites on conifers).

Spraying fruit trees with Miedzian (spring and autumn)

Copper fungicides Miedzian 50 WP and Miedzian Extra 350 SC have a very wide range of applications in the protection of fruit trees against fungal and bacterial diseases. The latter isallowed to be used in organic farmingIn practice, the difference is that Miedzian 50 WP is a powder, and the ecological Miedzian Extra 350 SC is a liquid concentrate.

We start ecological spraying of fruit trees with Miedzianalready in the period of leaf buds swelling, spraying peaches and apricots against bacterial cancer. Copper is also sprayed on apple and pear trees - first in the period of bud cracking against the fire blight, and then in the period when the first leaves appear - against scab.In autumn, after the leaves have fallen, Miedzian is sprinkled with peaches against leaf curl.

Ecological spraying with plant preparations (all season)

Ecological spraying of fruit treescan also be performed with preparations of common plants, such as: dandelion, yarrow, nettle, field horsetail, as well as onions and garlic. These plants are a valuable raw material for the preparation of decoctions (macerates) against pests and diseases. They also have a strengthening effect on fruit trees.
We start ecological spraying of fruit trees with plant preparations when the first leaves appear on apples and pears apple mildew. Spraying with these extracts should be repeated during the development of fruit buds and fruit growth.
Cherries and cherries should be sprayed with yarrow extract or horsetail decoctionduring the white flowering period. This spraying prevents the development of brown rot in stone trees. It should be repeated during the flowering period.
During this time, the first aphid colonies may also appear in the orchard.Ecological spraying of fruit treesto combat aphids is carried out with nettle, tansy, garlic or onion extracts. If necessary, ecological aphid spraying should be repeated every few days.
We also spray the flowering peaches against the frizziness of the peach leaves . For this treatment, use an extract of yarrow, horsetail or nettle.

Supporters of ecological spraying of fruit treescan also obtain Himal Cube garlic pulp preparation (former Bioczos BR) or Biosept Active grapefruit extract available in stores. Although both of these preparations are much more often used in the cultivation of vegetables, Bioczos can be useful in horticulture to combat aphids, which do not like the smell of garlic. Prepare the above-mentioned preparations with an appropriate amount of water.
Although they are natural preparations, they can cause skin and eye irritation in humans. When we spray trees, some of the liquid is blown away by gusts of wind and there is always a risk of irritation. Thereforeecological spraying of fruit trees should be donewearing appropriate clothing, gloves and goggles, just like when using chemical pesticides.

Ecological urea spraying in the fall

Anotherecologically valuable treatment in the apple orchard is the autumn spraying with urea , right after the first frost. It consists in spraying trees and shrubs with a 5% urea solution. Spray urea just before all leaves fall, spraying both the leaves remaining on the trees and those that have already fallen to the ground.
Remember to prepare a large amount of the spray liquid, because the best results are achieved by completely covering the leaves and branches with the urea solution. If we do not manage to spray in the fall, urea fertilizer in the form of a spray can also be used in spring, but the effects are unfortunately weaker. It is also worth mentioning thatspraying in autumn improves the wintering of the sprayed plantWe usually use urea in the fall spraying of fruit trees in the preventive fight against scab and in principle it should be the basic treatment in combating scab in allotment gardens and in ecological orchards. Properly performed urea spraying can destroy up to 90% of the fungus spores, thanks to which the scab will not do much damage in the next season.
