What is suitable for composting and what is not?

These products are put into the compost:

  • leaves of trees and shrubs not showing signs of fungal diseases,
  • damaged and bruised fruit and chips from the juicer,
  • branches previously cut into sawdust with a shredder,
  • wood ash (excellent for growing tomatoes),
  • tea bags,
  • ground and previously brewed coffee grounds,
  • vegetable and fruit peelings,
  • gray paper, no plastic stickers or tape.

These products are not composted:

  • rotten vegetables and fruits, with pronounced fungal diseases,
  • citrus peel,
  • vegetables from broth, cooked in meat stock,
  • dice,
  • bleached paper,
  • branches as a whole that have not been shredded in any way,
  • leaves with visible signs of fungal diseases,
  • weeds with clearly knotted seeds.

What pulp to use from the squeezer?

The best pulp will be the one obtained from the squeezer, not the juicer. The latter is slightly wetter than the previous one. better shredded and drier plant waste is obtained from the squeezer. You can harvest them all year round if you drink pressed juices regularly. It is enough to transfer the wood chips to a home composter on the balcony or in the kitchen and collect the material for a larger compost on the plot.

Throw it there in batches so that it can be freely processed by bacteria and microorganisms. remember that the best raw material will be vegetables and fruit from organic farming. Then you have a guarantee that they are not contaminated with pesticides and other plant protection products. If you do not have access to it, wash fruits and vegetables in soda and vinegar to get rid of the build-up.

Unconsumed, mashed vegetables and fruit for salads or mousses are also a good idea. Remember that they should not be mold or fungus - only those that you have excess and do not plan to eat in the next few days.

Don't forget to feed the birds in winter!
