In my garden ...

Table of contents

Garden type: rural / naturalistic; Location of the garden: Lublin region, rural area; Garden area: about 0.25 ha + 0.4 ha of the adjacent orchard; Established in 2008.
The habitat where the garden is located is a long-standing remnant of my great-grandparents. There is a typical rural development here - a wooden house, a wooden granary, a brick cellar and a brick farm building - with an adjoining orchard dominated by walnuts and old varieties of apple, pear and plum trees. On the west side of the plot there is an ancient mixed forest, which makes sunsets a bit earlier. A shortened day makes many plant species mature or bloom a little later than in habitats far away from here … but the first frosts tend to be kinder here and we enjoy plant species more sensitive to temperature drops a bit longer.
"When we were gone - there was a forest here … nettles and wild lilacs, and the habitat, uninhabited for several years, was covered with the fields of the carpenter and the nun … your garden idea. From family sentiments I tried to keep as much as possible from the past … but not only - because apples or plums from old varieties have a taste that I have never found on store shelves …
""New plantings are also mostly utility plants: cherries, cherries, apricots, peaches, quince, quince, barberry, blueberry, haskap berries, gooseberries, gooseberry, grapes, mulberries, blackberries, raspberries….As it is also a farm on a daily basis, a large part of the area around the house is occupied by a spacious lawn, allowing for some thicker agricultural equipment to pass…. and it is nothing like a fluffy carpet. On a very compact clay soil, common and annual panacea, white clover, plantain, nuns … and everything that a naturalistic lawn will take from the surroundings:)
""Over the years, flower discounts have been wandering around various parts of the garden, as well as the vegetable garden. Due to the fact that a significant part of the ornamental plants are perennials, annual or biennial flowers, the decorative garden was created anew each year … With time, some of the flower beds became fixed under trees and building walls. A large group of self-sowing plants makes the garden surprising every year…. To keep the rebates a bit in check, I made smaller or larger stops in the form of wicker or hazelnut braids. The appearance of children inspired the construction of a garden house, a play area with a sandbox and a place for swings. There is also a place for a bonfire, a spacious foil tunnel and a vegetable garden, which, together with the orchard, gives you self-sufficiency in terms of vegetable and fruit resources.
"I would be able to write about this for a long time - what else … but I hope that the gallery will help me out a bit and you will see what I could not put into words … Welcome! ;)
