Herbal arrangements

Table of contents

" Herbs do not only mean great spices or teas. They are also graceful plants for creating compositions from them. They can be grown - for example - among other perennials in a country garden, in carefully planned flower beds surrounded by a lawn or in pots. There are many possibilities. To the readers of the Garden Recipe and users of the website www.mojpieknyogrod.pl, I present some ideas for creating herbal arrangements. "

HERBS FOR DECORATION

  1. In a wagon wheelThis is my first suggestion. We put such an old ornament in the planned place and plant low species of herbs between the spokes. If we do not have a wheel, we can mark its shape with properly arranged stones, imitating the hub, spokes and rim. Additional color effects are obtained by covering the ground with colored gravel. We plant the herbs in the same way as in the wagon wheel. There is only one remark. There will be no material boundaries between them, so you need to pay attention to whether the plants do not jam each other. Therefore, it will be necessary to cut them regularly, especially after a few years, when they are already lush.
  2. Classic herb gardenIt is an ideal solution when its surroundings have the same character. It fits perfectly with the English lawn. This type of garden is square, rectangular or round and usually divided into symmetrical parts. You can surround it with a low hedge of evergreen shrubs, such as the common boxwood of the 'Suffruticosa'.
  3. Free clustersPlantings look like natural communities of different plant species, complementing each other. Those that are tall and stately, such as angel angelica, can be planted in the back and small and fine variations can be planned in front of it. On the other hand, herbs with extensive inflorescences, such as garden and Italian fennel, caraway and chervil, have an open-work habit and are ideal for combining with border plants.
  4. Corner and narrow bedsThis is an idea for small allotments. Thanks to them, we will make the most of all free spaces and obtain an excellent visual effect. We choose the species of herbs at your discretion. We only avoid strongly bushy ones (e.g. mint), unless we plant them in bottomless pots, which will keep the roots in check.
  5. Between the paving stonesThe garden is open. We plant the herbs in the free spaces between the paved rows or paths forming a chessboard. Concrete paths make it easy to reach herbs at any time of the year, regardless of the weather. If we want to use a wheelbarrow or a trolley, we place the tiles continuously. We can also use weather-resistant cubes.
  6. In containers . It is a popular solution for balconies, terraces, kitchen window sills and - of course - for gardens. We plant a few herbs in larger pots, and only one in smaller pots.
  7. Rural garden . It is supposed to be free in nature. It includes annual plants, perennials, vegetables, fruit trees and shrubs, and creepers as a background.

I encourage you to create your own compositions, and the effects will surely be amazing.
