My plot is bordered by two neglected and unworked gardens. Because of this, a lot of weeds and various pests passed to my site. The view of the bushes was also not the most beautiful. So I had to fix it.
The best solution seemed to be making some kind of fence. I considered planting a thuja hedge, but it would grow for many years. To have a quick effect, I decided to use reed mats. You can get them without any problems in most DIY stores. They are available in different sizes.
After careful measurements, I came to the conclusion that mats 160 cm high and 300 cm long will be just right for my plot. The price of a mat with the above parameters is about PLN 50. Of course, I could also choose wicker mats, but they were correspondingly more expensive.
Reed fences need to be mounted on some surface. It can be a fence mesh, gate, railing or fence. The mats are attached to the so-called openwork surfaces with the use of stainless wire added with the purchase. In turn, they are nailed to wooden structures with nails or pins.
Such a reed fence, unfortunately, is not very durable. They should be replaced every few years as they wear out quickly. Apart from that, it has many advantages: it looks aesthetically, decorates and protects against wind, dust, noise and unpleasant views.
Reed mats are also a perfect background for my plants.
