September in the orchard

We prepare storage rooms

Many autumn varieties of apples, pears and plums ripen in September. These fruits are suitable for consumption 2-3 weeks after picking from the tree.In order for them to achieve the best taste, they must be stored under appropriate conditions until then, namely at low temperature and high humidity.

Before submitting them to three weeks previously whitewashed and disinfected, eg with Copper, in the store, it is worth sorting and removing all
fruits with the slightest signs of mechanical damage and disease symptoms. Fruit crates should be washed and dry.Put the fruit into the containers carefully, do not knock them against each other or against the edges of the crate.

We collect nuts

We collect hazelnuts and walnuts when they fall off the tree. It is a sign for us that they are mature. Then dry them for a few weeks at room temperature. For storing nuts, airy, canvas bags are best.

We collect woody cuttings

At this time of the year we can start multiplying the currants. One-year shoots are used for cuttings and cut into 15-20 cm sections. The tips are placed in moist sand mixed with peat for about 2 weeks.During this time, callus will form on the wound . The cuttings prepared in this way will take root and take root easily.
