Vegetable garden without chemicals - how to grow a vegetable garden ecologically

Table of contents

In the cultivation of our garden, we follow ecology and intuition supported by several years of experience. The result of such gardening, which is called biodynamic farming learning, is he althy vegetables.

  • In spring, fertilize the soil with manure , first piled up for a year in a secluded corner of the garden. We do not dig the soil too deep, we only loosen it reliably. I read that in this way we do not disturb the biological balance of the soil.
  • In the summer, we make a liquid cow , which we water the most demanding plants with. We have a barrel of several dozen liters for this purpose. It is one-quarter full with fertilizer and three-fourths with water. Stands without lid for several weeks. Every now and then I mix its contents. After the preparation is finished foaming (which means its fermentation), I dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:10. Cucumbers need this kind of fertilizer the most, but other plants also grow well afterwards. Of course-
You can buy fawn horns enriched with powdered horns at a garden store, but ours does its job just as well.
  • We don't despise our compost . We enrich it with undiluted nettle slurry. It accelerates fermentation and greatly improves the condition of the soil.
  • Nettle manure is rich in mineralsI make it from 1 kg of weed and 10 liters of water. It is also used for spraying plants (except onions, garlic and beans). Such treatments not only enhance their growth, but also prevent fungal diseases and pests. The nettle manure used for this purpose is very efficient. It should be diluted more than ten times. You have to remember that what is too much is unhe althy and very careful when applying it to young plants. Delicate leaves can be easily burned.
  • We also adhere to the principle of the appropriate neighborhood of plants , which, thanks to their properties, support each other. Marigolds, nasturtiums and marigolds usually grow between crops to protect the vegetables from various pests.
