It all started one winter evening when I was browsing magazines on landscape architecture, horticulture and horticulture.
Throughout the season - from early spring - there is never time for such activities, because we spend all free afternoons on the plot. We have a large vegetable garden and an orchard from which we harvest good crops. Only in late autumn and winter you can plan a little and dream about what I will do in the garden next season. So then I had the idea to build a gazebo.
Unfortunately, there were hardly any finished projects, and the ones I had were not interesting. But what is the imagination for? Together with my son, a polytechnic student, we designed an octagonal, nice and airy rosewood gazebo with comfortable benches and a round table in the center.
It is worthwhile to approach construction topics professionally and use special computer programs. This way you can get a complete design with all dimensions and material cost calculations.
We made the base of the gazebo from medium-sized logs, about two meters long. The sides of the logs were carefully shaped into a square, which took me quite a long time. For convenience, I advise you to use square beams immediately - thanks to this, we will perform this stage of work much faster and more conveniently.
Then I painted the floorboards with a wood impregnation and, using a spirit level, placed it on solid beams. I have specially placed the base beams on pegs to ensure a constant air flow and to avoid trapping moisture under the floor. Thanks to this, the gazebo will serve us for many years. I made its skeleton from 100x100 mm beams. The beams go under the roof and there I connected them with more beams, thus creating an octagonal roof truss.I covered the roof with tar paper. It is about 3 m tall.
The gazebo is decorated with truss walls made of plywood. I made the benches from shaved planks that remained after the construction of the gazebo.
We dream of building a large barbecue next to it in the future.
