Euonymus is grown in North and Latin America, Australia and Europe. As a small winter-green shrub, it works very well in various types of home plantings.Perfectly tolerates the company of neighboring trees and the pressure exerted by their roots. The photo shows the 'Emerald' Gold 'variety. The euonymus flowers are rather inconspicuous.
A wide habit is characteristic for this shrub, which grows with moderate strength.Depending on the variety, the euonymus can be 30 to 100 cm high and about twice as wide.
Euonymus tolerates sun and partial shade, it can also grow in the shade. It is important to guarantee its humus, moderately moist, fertile soil.
Euonymus is propagated either by woody cuttings, which are planted from late summer to early autumn in a still unfrozen substrate, or by layering in the fall.
Euonymus is easy to care for, withstands pruning and low temperatures relatively well.Sometimes it suffers from long-term frosts that are not accompanied by precipitation (the so-called frost without snow).
Euonymus is perfect for ground cover planting under the canopy of large trees. However, it can also be used as a climber to lead over walls. This is possible thanks to the clinging roots that allow climbing to a height of up to three meters. Note, some species of euonymus are poisonous!
Fortune's euonymus can be trimmed into a ball and arranged in combination with, for example, box trees.
