In the summer of 2007, we moved to a new home. Spacious and comfortable, in terraced houses, it had only one drawback: a small garden with an area of 60 m2. The main problem was the symbolic distance from the neighbors. Although all the residents of the estate became friends in a short time, we wanted to arrange the garden in such a way that it would provide at least a bit of intimacy and peace.
Lamella fence
We decided to complete the mesh fence with uniform elements of light construction. The choice fell on a lamella fence, which we bought in one of the DIY hypermarkets. We opted for arc-finished lamellas.
PriceThe price of the fence turned out to be affordable. One element cost about PLN 80.
Installation of the lamella fenceThe slats were made of raw wood, impregnated only with an antifungal agent. Before assembly, we painted them with a cedar-colored wood barrier, which matched the color of our wooden terrace. We used a pressure gun for painting. It was definitely much faster, but I had the impression that the use of the timber protection was greater. We could only use this method because the garden was empty. Otherwise, the color of the cedar would take on not only the fence, but everything around it as well. The assembly was simple. We screwed two transverse beams to the fence posts and attached lamellas to them. This design ensured stability. The assembly took two hours.
Wooden Tool HouseSince the house does not have a garage, we had to think about a place where we could hide garden tools. We decided to build a wooden house in the corner of the plot, which we bought in a hypermarket for about 700 PLN. Unfortunately, an unpleasant surprise happened here. It turned out that we had to deal with the puzzle of single strips, and the only help was a pictorial instruction. Fun in folding the so-called gardener's cabin lasted almost all day. Later, only painting with a wood protection and the work is finished.
Garden arrangementAlthough the fenced plot provides peace, it has visually decreased. We de alt with this problem by delineating the irregular lines of the lawn and selecting plants with light leaves and varied habit.
