Roses and soil fatigue

The first symptoms of soil fatigue under roses may be slower growth and less flowering. The soil fatigue process occurs as a result of one-sided depletion of nutrients from the soil.

If the soil is not fertilized properly and rationally, including green and organic fertilizers, there may be deficiencies of macro- and micronutrients, which are necessary for the proper growth and development of plants.

Another dangerous phenomenon related to soil fatigue is excessive multiplication, and hence - the accumulation of spore organs of bacteria, fungi or pests specific to a given plant species. In the case of roses, an exemplary disease may be the root tuberosity caused by the bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens.

Cauliflower-like growths appear on rose shoots just above the soil.By cracking, they release bacterial spores that can survive several or even several years in the soil. When symptoms of this disease are noticed, shoots with growths should be removed immediately.

The fatigue process of the soil can be minimized to some extent. The soil should be enriched with organic matter through the use of organic and green fertilizers.Remember to periodically check the pH of the soil and adjust the pH if necessary.

Soil fatigue is also an excessive accumulation of active substances of plant protection products. Therefore, use chemical preparations only when necessary (similar to preparations made by yourself, for example decoctions with various plants or nettle or horsetail manure).

Planting garden rose varieties

Various types of preparations containing the so-called effective microorganisms, (EM or probioems). The conducted research is aimed at proving whether these agents play a greater role in the soil environment. However, they can be successfully used in this type of site, because by introducing bacteria into the soil, we will increase its microbiological biodiversity.
