In addition to its original habit, it is decorated with beautiful pink-purple flowers.

Decorative garden in January

We look at carp, tubers, onions

We review stored dahlia carp, gladioli tubers, crocosmia, begonias, gallonia bulbs, hymenoptera and other plants. Infected by diseases or damaged we remove.

Prepare a planting plan

We prepare a plan of planting in rebates and flower beds. Plants are selected in such a way as to maintain the continuity of flowering throughout the growing season and to harmonize them with the already growing plant species.

The colorful side of winter

We are planning purchases for the new season

It is worth drawing up a purchase plan for seeds, plants, fertilizers, plant protection chemicals and garden tools.

We break the snow crust on lawns

Trees and shrubs: ornamental dogwood shoots

Creeping dogwood naturally occurs in North America. This plant does not produce runners, so its name is misleading. The shrub grows up to 2.5 m high, has wide-growing long red shoots that lie on the ground and take root. The egg-shaped leaves are 6-12 cm long.

The gardens cultivate a valuable variety of dogwood - 'Kelseyi'. It is a dwarf, widely growing shrub up to 70 cm tall with purple-brown shoots. It is an excellent ground cover plant and its stems are used to create bouquets.

Light green leaves in fall turn yellow with a purple blush. It is an important element of color compositions in the garden and in floristry. In the garden, it can grow on virtually any soil. Likes sunny positions. It looks very nice when planted in perennial beds or as a ground cover. Also suitable for planting in containers.

Vegetable: the ground is changing

An important role in the cultivation of vegetables is played by rotation, i.e. deliberately determined sequence of plants one after another, arranged over several years. When arranging a crop rotation, one should take into account many factors, i.e. nutritional requirements of plants, the extent of the root system, the length of the growing season and the time after which the plant can return to the same position.

Vegetables with high requirements, i.e. cruciferous (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) and pumpkin (pumpkins, cucumbers, zucchini), should be grown in the first year after fertilization with compost or manure.Lesser demand for nutrients have onion and root vegetables, and the smallest - legumes. When preparing a vegetable garden, it is best to divide it into 3 or 4 plots where vegetables will be grown.

The first plot, where cabbage and pumpkins will grow, is fed with well-fermented compost or manure. The remaining plots will be used for plants with medium and low nutrient requirements. The last, fourth plot should be sown with plants for green manure, e.g. clover, field peel or lupine, which have a positive effect on the soil structure.Taking into account the extent of the root system, it should be assumed that after deeply rooted vegetables we grow vegetables with a weaker root system and vice versa.

Most vegetables can return to the same position after 3-4 years. However, if diseases such as cabbage syphilis, onion head, tomato cancer or high intensity nematodes are present, the cultivation of plants that may be infected by these diseases and hosts for nematodes should be stopped for at least 5 years. Tomatoes and peppers can grow in one place without a crop rotation for several years, but the quality of the fruit will deteriorate from year to year.
